A) Women received their dead, raised to life again. Elisha and the women. Let’s be straightforward. This miracle rocked the universe of the people at that time. This miracle rocked the world at the time of Jesus. Someone got up from the dead. In the case of Jesus, it was NEVER to die again. B) Not accepting release in order to get a better resurrection: Not the event, but the rewards. Yep, it is here, folks, that should make us blush. Our church wants to be just like the early church. Really? Is this what the people of our churches want today? Not so much. C) Mockings, scourgings, bonds, imprisonment, stoned, sawed in two…it all sounds like fun. Where are you now, Karl Marx? If this is the opiate of the people, then this is some pretty bad black tar opium. There is NO “we can escape reality” for Christians. There is… perseverance.
D) The world was not worthy: There is no doubt that these great people of God were just great. And the world is not great. The world could never deserve these people of great faith.

1) Committed to the grace of GOD: So, when we hear this, we think it sounds great. But to do this is something to bring us to a whole different level. If we are truly committed to the grace of God, we would engage others using the grace that has been bestowed upon us. To whom much is given , much is required.
2) Telling ALL that God has done: I know that it is hard to think this way. Especially if the Lord has done something so “fantastical” that other people think that you are nutsy coo-coo. But we are called to share it ALL. Even the stuff that might freak people out. It could be that those very things help a person move forward in the Lord.
3) And began to teach the Christians (brothers). People who are NOT Christians OFTEN try to teach Christians how Christians should believe, act, and function in this world. Wow. A non-believer tells a believer how they should be in order for the non-believer to accept them. Hell no…is how we want to approach defying God over the worldly influence and the worldly governments. And if they don’t like it, we know where they can and will likely go.
4) Argued forcefully and at length: This is not a wrong spirit. This is part of the defense for the Gospel. This is needed now more than ever. Stand firm.

A) I believe; therefore, I have spoken: (Psalm 116:10). We have covered this before. This passage gives credit to our confession needing to be in sync with God’s desires. What we believe, we should speak. Even if it is offensive to the world. In truth, the Bible teaches, “Woe unto you when all me speak well of you” (Luke 6:26).
B) The One who raised Jesus will also raise us up! I’m not sure why we hesitate when we read this. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that will raise you and me from the dead. The power is NO DIFFERENT. The power of the Holy Spirit will say, “Rise,” and we will rise.
C) All of this is for your benefit: Everything that God does, plans, coordinates, adjusts, maneuvers, arranges, or determines is for OUR benefit.
D) Grace that is extended may overflow in thanksgiving: The purpose of grace is NOT so that we can just be in this great receiving position. The purpose of grace is to lead to thanksgiving unto GOD and bring Him the glory due to His name.

1) Here we go, Ladies and Germs. We dive into the gifts and those wacky Pentecostals and those starchy Baptists. We have covered the overview previously. And now, we start to pick apart, exposit, review, and examine the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We tackle a big one to start. And we will give space to the good and the bad of all of it. Nobody has to agree with me, or ANYONE else, regarding this. You must decide between you and God as you test everything. If we have disagreements with others, love is still required.2) What is prophecy? Why is understanding this important? And why is there so much controversy? First, there is more controversy over salvation and its sticking power than any spiritual gift argument. And that's NO EXCUSE for being a crummy Christian about it.3) We offer a working definition of what prophecy is. And we link the Old Testament process of prophecy to the New Testament prophecy. We do this to see the span and the application of prophecy. It may surprise you to know that you have likely operated in prophecy in the past. And I ain’t talking about the weather.

A) There is no want to those who fear him. Amazingly, David makes a statement just like this in the most famous Psalm ever, Psalm 23:1. That’s where he says, the Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want. Here he states that there’s no want if we fear the Lord. The wisdom for a child of God starts with fearing the Lord.B) Next up and in close association with the prior verse, David (actually, not King yet) says those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. This closely connects to 1 Corinthians Chapter 1:4-7, which says that, in Christ, we come behind in no gift. When we seek the Lord first, the Lord takes care of everything else for us. That’s what Matthew 6:33 is all about. Seek first His kingdom.C) The next important step in Davids’s communication is for us to understand that the Lord wants us to teach something. People who desire life and understand that only God grants good days need to keep aware of one thing: The tongue can be the great spoiler in life.

A) A return to last week, with a little more addon in the review: No one else taught me that this portion of the text is immense. We need to understand that our faith is not something that is just taught but something that is also caught. We cannot simply be Christians by being academically motorized and homogenized into a conformity system of thought and thinking. That is NOT what the gospel is. The Gospel is in opposition to that because The Gospel sets people free from their need to process analytically and perfectly.B) And then, something happened: Okay, truth be told, this is my favorite little verse in this text. And then something happened. I think we could use this for a thousand different events in our lives, including the initial prayer in which we submit to and call upon the name of the Lord according to Romans 10:13. But we can use this for every subsequent prayer. And then something happened! It changes everything when God shows up. Life changes. Lord, please show up in all of our lives!C) Finally, He chose me, called me, and revealed Jesus to me: This is a massive dose of underserved theology for each one of us. God chooses us, votes for us, and selected us. Then He calls us, pulls us, tags us. Then He reveals Himself to us in Jesus Christ. He opens our minds and hearts so we can “get it.” Do we get it?

A) There is a pretty big understanding in Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 28. As people, we should not be afraid of the ones that can kill our bodies and leave us there. That has very little to do with eternity. We should be aware that only God holds the ultimate power over our lives. And our continued existence.
B) Think about the reality that not even a sparrow falls to the ground without God knowing it. A sparrow is worth about half a penny. Yet, God knows every detail. Just like He knows every detail in our lives. Please tell me, besides those of us who are bald like myself), how many hairs do you have on your head right now? Give me the number, if you know.
C) This portion connects us to Luke 9:26. People that deny Jesus openly will be denied by Jesus. People that acknowledge Jesus openly will be acknowledged by Jesus. If we have any shame in being a Christian, we probably are not Christians. That goes double for the woke people who wouldn’t know the difference between Jesus and a brown paper bag.

1) Can a person’s actions benefit God? This is a critical question actually to be answered by every believer. Let’s start off with where this applies the most. You don’t do God any favors by going to church. Let me repeat that you don’t do God any favors by attending church. You do a favor for yourself. And while giving to the church is awesome, you don’t make God rich by giving. The Lord doesn’t need your money. He needs your heart. Truth be told, he doesn’t need your heart. He simply wants your heart.2) You must have, you must have! Ah, this is a classic. Let me give you a few words that will go along with this that help us understand the silliness: presume, speculate, suspect, conjecture, deduce, hypothesize, imagine, presuppose, surmise, theorize, be afraid, fall for, and have a sneaking suspicion. Okey, dokey; that all spells A-S-S U-M-E. 3) Stop quarreling with God: Ironically, this is correct and incorrect. You will understand if you do your own review of the scriptures. Cain argued with God. As well as everybody else along the way. There’s nothing unusual about standing your ground and talking to the Lord. Jacob would not have been blessed for resisting and wrestling with God if there were. Abraham would not have been seen as tenacious in faith. Moses would not have stood in the gap. And King David would not have maintained his kingship. And none of the other followers of God would be real. There comes a time when disagreements end. And there’s a difference between arrogance and engagement. Engagement is relationship. But tread wisely.

A) Positively, Paul exhorts women to be disciples and to maintain a conduct that would not discredit the church. The prohibition of v. 12 refers to the authoritative office of an apostolic teacher in the church. It does not forbid women to educate, proclaim truth, or exhort (prophecy) Acts 2:17; 18:26; 21:9; 1 Cor. 11:5; Phil. 4:3.

1) Many times in the Christian walk, we put forth a very strong effort. That is a good thing. But we cannot be the ones who evaluate when we’ve reached the peak of certain characteristics. Only the Lord can determine when we’ve reached the pinnacle. A perfect example is love; the first fruit is listed from the Holy Spirit. Love is the NEW command that came from Jesus in John 13:34-35. Here’s something funny. Love is supposed to grow.|2) Way too many Christians have a concept that they can never talk to a non-believer. They can’t talk to people that don’t understand Jesus. That’s not exactly how it goes. If we can’t talk to people who don’t know Jesus, how could they ever come to know Jesus? The difference is that every time we talk to them, we think that that is all we need to talk about is Jesus. That could be a big problem. How about we show that we are concerned about who they are? And then, once we have developed a relationship with them, use that opportunity when the Lord opens it to share the deepest truth that will help them the greatest.

A) 32 And what more can I say? Time is too short for me to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophet: Judges, 1 and 2 Samuel, Isaiah to Daniel. 185,000 versus 300, the victory over the Canaanites (with help from Debra), the victory of the Ammonites (oops on the daughter), and are good buddy Samson. The wild man, not from the Yucatan. The judge with a less than stellar character, still used mightily by God. He can use ALL of us. B) 33 Who by faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions: Here are four examples of faith, which in every case extends beyond the prior four. From Abraham on for conquering. And Joseph dishing out some justice to his brothers, actually from Adam on, and then there is Daniel. And also David, in a certain sense. C) 34 Quenched the raging of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, gained strength in weakness, became mighty in battle, and put foreign armies to flight. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, somewhere between Genesis and Malachi, Many people, but mainly David, David, David, and from Abraham to Moses to Joshua, to the Judges, the kings, and the nation of Israel.

1) The Devil steals, but the Lord heals. Let’s get ready to review that the spiritual warfare in our walk is real. It is crazy stuff to the world and worldly, to the unenlightened, but you and I have a sneaky suspicion that there is more going on than the natural eye reveals. Isn’t that funny? Not really, because that is EXACTLY what Jesus taught, MORE than He ever taught about the poor and almost as much as He taught about love.
2) The enemy has a plan to disrupt. I am not scripturally convinced that the Devil actually thinks he can win. If he could, why would he just leave Earth? He can’t! But he does whatever he can to create havoc wherever he can. He tries to bring darkness where there’s light and keep the light out of where the darkness is.
3) And here is the key to hold on to: A significant part of Jesus’ ministry is to stop the enemy from doing stuff. Jesus has effectively UNDONE the eternal consequences of sin through His redeeming blood and sacrifice. Jesus restored what the Devil stole from mankind in the Garden of Eden. And He restores a whole bunch more than that for us. But we need to have faith that He wants to. Have faith. He wants to.
