1) In Paul’s discourse, the Holy Spirit leads him to connect Old Testament passages directly to Jesus. This strategy is exceedingly effective for people who believe in the Old Testament. This strategy is exceedingly effective for those who don’t believe in the Old or New Testament. How? Because in Jesus Christ, the veil is taken away. And the proclamation of the truth “opens the doors” to the “opening of the minds,” which can ONLY be done by God Himself.2) Certain passages shed more light than other passages in relation to the application. Paul connects the principles of the resurrection and eternal life from the Old to the New and then illustrates whom it all points to… Jesus. Before, the temple-goers heard these verses. But now, in Jesus, they SEE THE PERSONALIZATION of the passages for their own life. Jesus brought life and immortality to light for humanity through the Gospels.3) The summation of this section leads to the most important fundamental in hermeneutics or the method of interpretation. Get this: Without fail, the New Testament explains the Old Testament, not the other way around. In the New Testament, we find that the Emmanuel of the Old Testament is understood in the person of Jesus Christ, BECAUSE of the New Testament. Paul closes with a warning about not neglecting this presentation of truth. Sadly, this still happens.

A) The Lord is the Spirit. Here is another of a plethora of passages that make it clear that the Holy Spirit is the Lord and that the Holy Spirit IS Go. To deny this is to deny the absolute basic tenets of the Christian faith, as established by Jesus. In being God, he is God through the Holy Spirit and man through the virgin Mary. So, let’s get it straight.B) So, a key indicator is you are on the right track is this; Where the Holy Spirit is, there is freedom. This means several things, not the least of which is that where there is legalism, there is not much of God around. This is true for an individual as well as a church. If there is no Holy Spirit, there is no freedom, there is no presence of God, and all that is left is religion.C) With unveiled faces means that nothing stands between God and us in a relationship, in vision, and in seeing Him, while others see us. Then we can truly reflect the glory of Jesus Christi in our lives.D) With intensifying glory, or glory by glory, or step by step, or inch by inch, or here a little, there a little. As we GROW (sometimes in inches) to reflect Jesus Christ on the inside and on the outside, more and more.

1) I remember when I first said “yes” to Jesus. At the beginning of the journey, I thought that Jesus was the best fire insurance ever. I did NOT disrespect or disbelieve Him or in Him. I just concluded that eternal life was a gift. A gift is a gift. Most of the time, a gift is just cool to receive. Yep, in my mind, I was part of the greatest deal ever. Repent, believe, and follow Jesus. Totally cool. How could this ever be questioned by anyone? I didn’t think much of the earthly journey, having already seen money, fame, and power up close. But an awesome eternity?
2) Guess what? The moment we say yes to Jesus and take the RED PILL and say YES to Jesus, from the human perspective, things start to get in motion. As we travel into the depths of the journey, we begin to know the draw of the Lord to get closer to Him. At some point, we even pray this prayer: “Lord Jesus, whatever it takes, whatever You want, and I want to follow You.” Yep, that is our decision to go full heart commitment to the Lord and His kingdom.
3) And then, it happens. The heavens feel like they become a little tighter. The enemy appears to get more aggressive. And we start clawing through certain trials with a little less of a smile. It is here that we should remember the words of Jesus to His disciples. John 6:67 states, Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave? Well…when it gets hard and harder, do we want to go?

A) We enter Psalm 33. And we understand that the word of the Lord is right. This is a super nice way of saying everybody else is wrong and God is right. As much as the world thinks they understand everything, one minor event can take place to throw everybody into a tizzy. The word of the Lord made the Heavens and the Earth. And the word of the (by the breath of his mouth 2 Timothy 3:16), made all the hosts of Heaven and Earth.B) It’s difficult for us to think that our brilliant plans will not always come to pass. The reason is simple. If our plans are in opposition to God, and in his overriding framework, then like the Tower of Babel, He will send confusion. Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that take it on.C) Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Not blessed is the nation whose God was the Lord, but then becomes mankind’s sin, pride, green new deal, wokeness, progressive, earth-first, politically correct insanity. If America continues down the pathway of not having the Lord at the forefront of the thoughts of our leaders and people, then we can count on the same thing happening to us that has happened to everyone else who abandons Him. That will not look pretty.

1) We’re going to utilize some Tuesday time and dive back into the book of Galatians. I’ve been getting the sense that the Lord wants us to focus in on being more connected to Him, more intimate, and not just going through the motions. This letter to the Galatians will help us accomplish that. Just by way of set up. Galatians was written by the Apostle Paul. A decent date is 54-ish AD. That’s about 20 years after Paul’s conversion.
2) It is critical to understand the purpose of this writing. This is pretty straight forward. Justification is by faith alone. Salvation is a gift from God. What we have started off with by faith, and through the Holy Spirit, cannot now be accomplished by our own efforts, or by the works of the law. This became a significant argument in the early church, and it remains so even today. But believing that we initiate or finalize our salvation is to deny that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith and our salvation (Hebrews 12:2). That’s dangerous thinking.
3) Paul states, “My call is from Jesus Christ.” And so is yours. Why that’s critical to understand is that the origins of our faith and ministries are in partnership with Jesus Christ. We are not under the subjection of what other people think. While there’s wisdom in the multitude of counselors, that only applies if the counselorshold wisdom that is biblical, and they are connected to Jesus.

A) Jesus said: “Go away.” Come on now, David. Jesus would never say “Go away” because He was full of love. You are right in saying that Jesus was, is, and always will be full of love. But to say that Jesus would not say “Go away” is just ignorance of who the REAL Jesus is. Jesus said, “Depart from Me” in several different languages, so to speak. But digging deeper, “Go away” is a softer version of the real Greek used. Get lost or hit the road, see you later, alligator, are closer to the reality. “GET OUT” is the most accurate.B) Asleep, not dead. Aha. But the scripture says that she died. Not kind of dead. Died. As in dead. As in no longer breathing. As in a dirt nap. BUT…not to Jesus. To Jesus, people are not dead, as in no more existence. They are simply sleeping. That’s how it goes when you hold the power of death in your hands.C) But they laughed at him. And they have been laughing at Jesus ever since. The politicians, the false pastors, the demonic teachers in the realm of influence, all making fun of Jesus and His silly little book. God created the universe. He can write a book. And when they die, and they will, they will have to answer Him.

1) How short is life and full of trouble. This passage is one of my favorites; although used here, it is highly negative. I think Job is right. But of course, he is also wrong. He complains about life, and then he complains about how short it is. Not exactly a perfect match for Match-Game. I like it because it reminds me that my trouble won’t last and Job is wrong about the few.
2) You have decided the length of our time. So that no one will ever forget God is in charge of our personal bio clock, no matter what the government, the media, the influencers, or the scholars say. You will NOT endure one second longer than the Lord appoints. Psalm 39:4 states, LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered!
3) As much as I love Job, it is here that he has a definitive limited understanding of the Lord God Almighty. He said, “This thought would give me hope.” As of right now, Job knows this hope is real. And we do too. God has told us in Romans 4:17, As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.

1) Paul then becomes slightly charismatic and reminds Timothy that there were prophecies made over him. Not only does Paul not disregard these prophecies, but the exact opposite, as Paul encourages Timothy to maintain what was spoken, holding on to it in order that he may wage a good war. Prophecies can be used to aid in spiritual warfare. To say otherwise or to say this is in the past is just foolishness.
2) Paul closes this by reminding Timothy to have faith and a good conscience. When your conscience pricks at you, the Holy Spirit often chastises us to do a better job. Let me give you a personal example that you won't like too much, but it happened to me and is real to me. It all has to do with bumper stickers.

OUR 4-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW
1) This DDD is about pushing through the yuck that is either all around us or even within us. It’s not worth playing theological games at this point It’s about living in the top more than on the bottom. There is a personal Armageddon as well as the massive upcoming Armageddon. Both battles involve territory. However, one of them is personal.
2) Why does the sun go on shining? Why does the sea rush to shore? Why do the birds go on singing? Why do the stars glow above? Yes…these are lyrics from an old song. But there is a reason for things happening, even if they are difficult to understand or heartbreaking. God also develops happenings that are positive and a blessing, that have their basis in His love. But there is an effective approach to finding out the reason. We examine.
3) Did you ever play Monopoly? If you pass “GO,” you collect $200.00. Get past the GO and get the reward. Yep. That’s similar to the Lord saying to His followers, “Therefore go…” in Matthew 28:19. Whenever we GO for the Lord, we may not have all the plans prior, but we know that the Lord travels with us. We don’t know what’s around the corner, but we can know WHO is around the corner.

FOUR-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW!
A) We return to Abraham in the Hall of Fame of faith and discover that faith is a part of God’s testing process. Abraham’s faith was tested by God so that Abraham could see the level of his faith. The amazing part of this story is how far Abraham had to go to see it. He had to give up not only his very offspring but the actual promise of God as he understood it. It wasn’t that the Lord would be unfaithful to His promise. It just wasn’t going to come about the way that Abraham thought.B) Once again, we understand the illustration and the application of the Old Testament experience through the New Testament Scriptures. Abraham considered God able to raise the dead. He believed that God could raise a dead body. He believed in a resurrection, and he actually received a resurrection in a certain sense.C) To be honest, Isaac doesn’t get much in the Hall of Fame of faith. Other than he prayed for blessings in regard to the future.D) On the other hand, Jacob gave his blessings as he was dying, which meant that, as he was coming face to face with his mortality, he still operated in the power of faith. Not only did he know the future, but he gave instructions for how his bones should be handled when they come into that future.

A) In the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Paul makes the connection between King David and Jesus because the Messiah comes through King David. Then again, in the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Paul makes the connection between Abraham and Jesus because the Messiah comes through Abraham. This is the reason for Matthew 1:1 > This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham. The Messiah must have this lineage. Jesus has this lineage.
B) Paul goes on to point out that they didn't recognize Jesus as the Messiah. Because of that, they condemned him to death. He doesn't blame Pilate alone. He doesn't blame the Gentiles alone. And he doesn't blame the Jews alone. He blames everybody because everybody is guilty. To pinpoint the purpose of the death of Jesus to a particular group is to exclude everybody else from the salvation that is offered. Oops.
C) But as Paul is coming to a close in his discourse, he explains that Jesus was the fulfillment of the messianic prophecies, specifically through His death. Now he introduces them to the resurrection, which is the mind blower of all. He clearly establishes Jesus as the Messiah as the witness to the people of Israel. To ignore Jesus, and his witness, is to endanger one’s eternity.

1) It’s the same veil that separated people from seeing God present when they read the Old Covenant. It's because their minds are closed. People cannot understand when we show them various things in the Old Testament because their minds have not been enlightened. Their minds are closed. They have not turned to the Lord and do not understand what He is saying. Or how it all fits into the scheme of things.
2) The key to the understanding is that minds can only be opened, and the veil can only be removed in Christ. When we turn to Jesus, we begin to understand what we read in the Old Testament. And we see through the power of the Holy Spirit how they apply to our lives. This veil, covering, and closing are only removed through Jesus Christ.
3) Think about when you became a viable Christian. That’s when the Bible became more than a recital. That’s when you figured out that the Word of God actually speaks to you. Luke 24:24 > Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
