1) James says (to Christians): 13Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you should say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil (James 4:13-16).
2) We examine two essential guarantees from God that will help us understand that sometimes, the best offense is to lay it at the cross. And wait for God to tell us to pick it back up. Of all the images that God communicates to us regarding Himself, the one that is least acknowledged is the one where He is a Gardener. But the reasonings are essential. If only God can give the growth, then only God can be the Gardener. Even in the dirt, God makes stuff grow. People as well as plants.

Dave takes off like a rocket and talks about Bible Baloney Beat-down and how Bad Bible Brains are not good. He reviews some of the most misquoted scriptures that Christians believe in all too often.
Next is the discussion about responding to intense and uncomfortable situations when we feel "not safe." Jesus gave us a very specific example while the disciples were hiding away. Jesus came into their midst and said, "Be at peace." This came from the Prince of Peace.

I love it when a plan comes together. That was the famous line from Colonel John Hannibal Smith from the A-Team. The biggest problem is that too many plans for the Christians have their basis in the flesh, personal ambition, or self-glory. And they can often be contrary to God. NO ONE WILL EVER BOAST BEFORE GOD. YES...THIS IS SHOUTING.

You can't beat this one ever. Deborah calls in, and shares that the Lord brings healing into her life from stage four kidney troubles to complete healing. It's an incredible testimony, and it's. And it's something that we should all remain alert in that God hears and answers prayers and God heals.
My strength fails me because of my sins. Here is the key for CHRISTIANS. Our sins are forgiven. In the realm of justification, our sins have been paid for by the blood of Jesus. At the same time, God is working out in us the practicality of our reflections of Jesus, glory by glory (2 Cor. 3:18). But sin still has a stain. And for the Christian, the stain needs some healing. That is where James comes into play. James 5:16a states, Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

1) Even though we are in the book of Job and have covered some specific territory, there are important verses to cover again. Or they deserve some deeper contemplation. Job cries out to be taught. How awesome that he has humbled himself to ask God for help. He then takes an even better step, moving out of his comfort zone, by asking for any help whatsoever. But then he does his Job Jump into the abyss. It’s not always about us being wrong. 2) We need to pay attention when it’s in the Old Testament and in the New Testament, designed for encouragement and wisdom. We need to pay attention to every verse, but once God has spoken and twice have, I heard applies too (Psalm 62:11). And we focus on not being shaken but being glad, which is a great way to live the journey, regardless of life pictures.

A) By Faith…Noah. Let’s be on the record. Noah was a man of enormous faith. Do you know why he demonstrated more faith than Adam did? Because Noah (which means rest) acted upon the word of God in direct obedience. Adam, along with Eve, didn’t need faith to know God but needed faith to obey God. Additionally, the declaration made by God was something never seen before. Rain and floods. Noah should have sold umbrellas.
B) Let’s see some of Noah’s attributes; He responded to something not yet seen. He built something new in response to God. He feared God. He sought to protect his family. Noah set the bar pretty high. And because of his obedience to God, he became an heir of righteousness by faith, even before Abe. He also condemned the world by his faithfulness, so NO…God doesn’t grade on a curve. But he does mark stuff with a rainbow curve.

1) They preached, shared, and ministered to Jesus from town to town. So, why do American Christians compartmentalize so much? Is faith for Sunday? Absolutely. And for Monday through Saturday too. Wherever we go, and whatever we are doing, we can still take the Gospel with us.2) “Attached himself” is a definitively important point. This person (Bar-Jesus) lived his life influenced by a demon and attached himself to an influential person. So, this guy who has a deep personal connection to a demonic spirit is closely connected, attached, and influencing this powerful political leader. Does this sound familiar? Do you think the people that support abortion from inception to after birth are just bad people? These people are vehicles of demonic teachings, just like woke folk are.
3) A man of considerable insight and understanding but not smart enough to see the person that he connected to was demonically expired. What were the two main tactics: 1) By interfering and 2) By trying to get people to pay no attention! These are the same demonic tactics that the Media and the Government often use today. All so satan can get people to turn away from the Christian faith. As it was then, so it is now.

A) You are our letters: Think of it this way; as the Lord writes into our lives His awesome wisdom, we become His letters. We are read to the world and to the universe continually. But our letters are not given because of sports and are not written with ink. THE HOLY SPIRIT writes us for all the world to read. Yea, sometimes, as we grow, we discover He follows the same line again. But it’s for our benefit as well as those who read us.
B) Paul’s confidence was “through Christ.” Even with all his spiritual accomplishments, the Apostle Paul knew that it wasn’t him or because of him. It’s Jesus and because of Jesus. Competence means ability and capability. So the idea that we can do all things through Christ is directly connected to the kingdom work. But God isn’t going to frown because we throw all our “we can do it” attitude upon Him.
C) God qualifies people as ministers. Yes…I know about 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus. But guess what? God has, does, and will bring people into ministry who seem to need a little extra work. That’s why 1 Timothy and Titus have DIFFERENT qualifications. Because their situations were different.

1) Do you remember? At the beginning of a relationship, specifically an intimate one is all senses on high alert. When it’s a romantic relationship, the flowers look better, the songs on the radio make sense, and everything in the universe is great. We call this “The Honeymoon Period.” And for almost each one of us, there is an interesting correlation to our spiritual relationship with God. At the beginning of our faith, prayers seem to get answered right away, the Bible makes sense, and the universe is aligned.
2) But we also inherit an enemy that absolutely despises us. We are in spiritual love with the very One that the enemy hates with all his being. We love what satan hates. And we start to hate what satan loves. And we learn that the honeymoon period moves into a new phase. It’s called growing pains. And growing pains, while sounding cute, are still pains.
3) So, what is the diagnosis, Doctor Dave? The same as the doctor gave the man who had two months to live. He said, “take two aspirins.” “Will that help?” the man asked. “Couldn’t hurt,” the doctor replied. The reality is that we disconnect a little. And if God is far, He didn’t move.

A) We all know that God has His timetable, but that does not mean that you cannot ask God to speed it up. Of course, it does not mean that He will speed it up. But you can ask. Just remember, He can always say no. That’s where our submission comes into play.
B) For Your name’s sake: It is awesome when the Lord does marvelous things for us. And it should be celebrated. “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. But the deepest and most profound elements are a tad bit beyond the human level of understanding. God “constantly” demonstrates His wisdom, grace, mercy, compassion, and holiness to the heavenly beings. No, you and I don’t know whose these beings are.
C) You have known my soul in adversity: NO ONE can know the depth of your hurt, pain, and suffering. Except for God. Being our Creator, He knows every nook and cranny of our insides and outsides. He is fully connected to His kids. That means He is fully connected to you…and to me.

A) Because it’s Tuesday, I’m taking some liberty. This is a particular “Person in the New Testament” Bible Study. I have taught on some of these before, but a review is worth our time. We won’t touch on each person in the New Testament, but the ones will cover are intended to bring us closer to understanding these brothers in Christ.
B) We start with the first author of the New Covenant. We dive into a review of our brother, Matthew. We examine the bravery of Jesus in selecting Matthew. We talk about the dating controversy, which is not that much of a controversy. But people love to live in speculation of trying to diminish the word of God.
C) Without dispute, we can see that Matthew directed his Gospel to the Jews. How can we possibly know that? He is the only Gospel author that does not explain the Jewish customs because his audience would know the Jewish traditions if they were Jewish. How many people start, continue, and finish in their placement before the Lord? Not many. But Matthew did.

A) We offer up two home runs from our brother Pastor Ray Bentley. Pastor Ray is with Jesus, and I love him, miss him, and am jealous of him all at the same time. His book, “This Day,” is an exceptional devotional like his other materials. We receive nothing for this promotion except to be directing people to be blessed. Check out: www.raybentley.com
B) Pressing On is an encouragement to quit. Quit whining, that is. There is no other place to go to find or hear the words of eternal life than to Jesus. Since there is no other option, we have to make a choice: we can pout and stew in our misery, which many unfruitful believers choose to do. Or we can get up, wipe off the dirt, and take the next step.
C) Uriah Heep was both a band and a Charles Dickens character. The irony is that the character, like the band, thought that by “faking humble,” they were being humble. Guess whom that doesn’t fool? That’s right. God sees every motive of the heart. There is no acceptable “faking” in the kingdom.
