TOP SHOW: A) Psalm 30, which is the blessedness of answered prayer. I extol You, Lord. To extol is to admire. I cried out to You, and You healed me. Whether immediately, like Jesus demonstrated, or over time, we cry to the Lord, and he responds. He is not deaf like my little Levi is getting. God created the ear. And he hears perfectly. B) God has brought our souls up and has kept us alive. Again, this connects with how many of us have pushed into the Lord, only to learn a fantastic lesson. The deeper we drive in, the greater we know about our darkness. And the greater we find our need to be fully invested and rested in Him. C) His anger lasts for a moment: But Dave, God doesn’t get angry. And a loving God never hates. Wrong and wrong. Ten times, the Bible refers to things and people that He hates. If you don’t like it, then take it up with Him. You may want to hang out in Proverbs 6:16-19 first, though. D) His favor is for a lifetime: Compared to the temporary displeasure due to our sin, God’s favor lasts from one end of eternity to no end of eternity.

1) Why are we different from the world and the worldly? There are several reasons for this reality. The first level is that God called us His own, which means that we are “holy” or “set apart” for His purposes. That set apart is from the world and the worldly. He sets us apart by choosing us. Another level of being separated is that we respond to Jesus as He is, alive and well and at the right hand of the Father. Still another level is that the Holy Spirit has sealed us. But there is one more thing that we engage with…2) HMIM. He Must Increase Ministry. I was so blessed to see that I could generate a non-profit with this title. John the Baptist stated this in John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” There are two major parts to it. First, Jesus must increase in all we say, do, and think. We, as in self-glory, must decrease. 3) Holy than thou doesn’t work very well. A myriad of people have convinced themselves that their good works will outweigh their bad ones. Even though that is not statistically true, they still FEEL like their balance will put them in the plus column before God. But God says, “nope.”

1) He went home. I know this sounds silly, but a great teacher made an excellent point about Abraham and his engagement with God in Sodom and Gomorrah. Genesis 18:33 states, When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home. After a tremendous spiritual experience, go home. 2) Matthew was sitting at his toll booth. He was despised. His own community loathed him. His only set of friends were people as bad as he was. Then Jesus does the amazing; Jesus, an outsider, tells Matthew that He wants him to hang out with Jesus. He expresses a desire for a connection. And Matthew jumps at the opportunity and experience to be wanted. 3) Oh my goodness. Did you see Jesus? He was hanging out with prostitutes. He was hanging out with other tax collectors. He was hanging out with the drunkards. That is incredible. Fortunately, we will never personally be seen doing this. Especially as Christians. ):

1) REMEMBER: JOB’S FRIENDS SHARE TRUTHS BUT WITH THE WRONG ASSUMPTIONS! For we were born but yesterday: What? Were you born yesterday? Yes. The lesson is to take heed to those who went before us. And what do we learn? That we are transient on the earth. 2) The fate of each person who neglects the Lord is this: They are dying while they are living. They cling to their homes for security, but that isn’t going to last. Why? Because their houses are built on sand. And while they may appear to prosper, looks can be deceiving. And what people think will bring them security, including money, won’t endure the test of time or God. 3) Nor will He make evildoers prosper. That’s wrong. God will exalt to humble. He did it with kings, and He’ll do it with whom He pleases. Money or not, money does not determine the favor of God. For God has chosen the poor of this world, rich in faith. And faith is much more valuable than gold.

A) After a little while. That is not defined by our own Movado or Rolex watch. A little while may “feel” like it goes on forever, but let’s get real. A watched pot boils at the exact same time, each time, at the same water level and the same temperature. But it doesn’t FEEL like it. B) God Himself will restore you. So He gets personally involved in our restoration. But wait, there’s more: He will also secure us (make us feel safe again), strengthen us (make our weak knees strong), and establish us (Cement our stability). God will do this. So therefore, it will be done. C) Through Silvanus. Paul used his skill to write for him. By the way, this absolutely demonstrates translations are valid. It goes from God to Paul, to Silvanus, to the book. Get it? Stand firm in grace. Because at the end of the day, it is grace by which we stand. D) As does my son, Mark. Giving strong evidence that Peter discipled John Mark, which makes sense from a “come back” point of view.

1) Don’t throw it away: He is a plea from the author of Hebrews, who understands the pressure and impact that TIME can have on a believer. He encourages us not to throw away our confidence. How does one throw away confidence? By no longer standing in the same faith that we started with. Do we still stand with the SAME faith as when we first believed? Ouch. 2) This confidence, IF (and again, I say “IF”) held on to, will bring a great reward for us. The scripture makes it plain: we need to operate in endurance, not in the microwave spirit of the ages. 3) There is a promise coming for the people of God. It can only be received by faith. Are we ready to receive it, or will it pass us by? (Catcher’s Mitt).

A) There was a point in the purity of our faith when we would have said, “take whatever I have. I am a Christian, and my home is in Heaven.” Instead, we would think of our “enduring possession, “our mansions in Heaven. But for too many believers, that has become the sweet bye-and-bye.

1) The night before, Peter was asleep. I always scratch my head about this text. He was facing certain death. But there would be no denial this time. He was ready to die for Jesus. He was so secure he was sleeping the night before his execution. 2) The stages of a person’s salvation are right here in this text: a) Suddenly: the message of the Gospel appears in our lives out of nowhere. b) An angel of light: (a message of light) appears. Guess what? When you heard the Gospel, it was a message of light (John 1). c) Stood before Peter: The Gospel stands before us as if to confront or challenge us. d) Tapped him: (for Paul, it was a knockdown). e) Awakened him: When we respond, we come awake from our old self into a new self. You know, born-again. f) Get up: Rise and shine, porcupine. g) Chains fell off: The Lord starts to break the things in our lives that are like shackles. It may be fast or over time, but it is in His perfect timing. h) Get dressed: Suit up with the armor of God (Ephesians 6) i) Follow me…and do this and do that. Whatever the Lord wants, both generally and specifically. Amen.

A) Not that we Lord it over your faith: To the nooks and the crannies of the scripture. We respect and honor our leaders. The majority of them lead because they genuinely believe that God has called them to be chief servants. They NEVER take a position of power to use the control in the system and the spirit of the world. The kingdom principle of a leader is one of a servant. B) By faith, you stand firm. Why is that? Because if we try to stand firm by what we see, we will sink like a stone. Just ask Peter (get it), who sunk like a stone when he took his eyes off of Jesus. C) Brothers and sisters, please don’t make me sad. You are the reason that I smile. That is what the Apostle Paul was trying to communicate when he shared that he lives or dies, smiles or cries, based on how these people are. D) I wrote you tough stuff because I love you. Tough love. It’s biblical!

1) This subject is one of massive significance. It directly correlates to our connection to God. It intertwines with the blood of Jesus Christ. And without this topic, we are doomed to eternal separation from God as we deserve. It’s reasonably straightforward. The moment a person sins (which is best defined as anything contrary to God), they “deserve” or are entitled to be eliminated or exterminated. But there is a space that God created that gives us hope. 2) The principle of forgiveness is critical to the Christian existence from the start, through the journey, and all the way to the end. The word often means compassion, mercy, and reconciliation. From the Greek, we get this: to send away, disregard, and keep no longer. This has to do with how are handled. 3) Here is a key to this particular teaching on forgiveness. It is, without question or reservation, SPIRITUAL WARFARE. There is a fight for us to operate in the Forgiveness Factor. This is not a struggle for God. He has extended to us His forgiveness. This is a struggle for you and me dealing with you, me, and everyone else. This is a fight to reflect Jesus. And it ain’t easy.

A) There are so many awesome things that we can and should give God. Glory (praise, honor, thanksgiving) is a mandate as our offerings to God. BTW, “give” is used three times in a row. B) Seven times, the phrase “the voice of the Lord” is used. Lots of repetition in this Psalm. The voice of the Lord does so many things. His word goes beyond our personal comprehension. C) In His Temple: “Glory” It’s time to rehash the O.L. Spears legend. The doors break open, and the silhouette of a man comes in crying “glory…glory to God” as the church erupts with applause. D) The Lord will bless His people: Hey, that’s you and me. How awesome is that? But what does He bless us with? His peace. Jesus, the prince of peace.

A) Understanding the power of encouragement is essential in loving one another. A passage we often cite is Hebrews 10:25, which states, We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming. But there is one place in the kingdom that is more powerful than fellowshipping with one another. Care to guess? B) The legacy media (and even good-hearted Christians) tell people that Albert Einstein said, “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.” The problem is that this is NOT the definition of insanity, and Albert Einstein never said anything like this. The authentic expression comes from an Alanon meeting about repeatedly doing the same DESTRUCTIVE behavior. It’s called sin. C) It’s time for a brief revisit with our BBB, not our DDD. What is BBB? Why that is simple; It’s Bad Bible Brains. And it matters because people with bad bible brains can be destroyed for lack of knowledge. The irony is that they don’t have to be. They chose to be destroyed. So yeah…don’t do that.
