1) The Disciples and Jesus get into a boat. Suddenly, which means out of nowhere. A violent storm. Not a thunderstorm. A violent, outrageous storm. These are fishermen in the boat. They know what storms look like. They know which storms should shake them to their core. 2) How bad is this storm? Bad enough that the boat they are in is taking in water. A couple of key points: There is no coastguard. There are no cell phones. There is not a Jet Ski hanging on the side. They are going down. 3) Where’s Jesus? Sleeping. He kept on sleeping right through the storm. And that, my friends, is how we think that Jesus engages with us when we are being overwhelmed by storms, wind, waves, and life. 4) But the reality is that Jesus is close by. So close that when the Disciples start freaking out (and yes, they were freaking out), He responds. But He is not panicked like we get. He is calm, cool, and collected. Then he chastises them about too much fear and not enough faith.

1) REMEMBER: JOB’S FRIENDS SHARE TRUTHS BUT WITH THE WRONG ASSUMPTIONS. Please don’t get the impression that we think little of the poor from this show. That’s not true in any fashion. We think little of those who try to equate ALL of Christianity with the poor and skip the God part, the sin part, the faith part, and the eternal life part. The Bible does not permit this. This passage shows the connection between the poor and God’s faithfulness to the poor. Remember Billy Graham’s definition. Remember James 2:5. 2) Consider the joy of those “corrected.” Boy, does this fly in the face of those who define love as ONLY accepting everyone’s everything. If God corrects us, we should be thankful that He cares enough about us to do so. If He doesn’t correct you and me, then we have much more to be concerned about. 3) He will rescue again and again. One of the great definitions of salvation is to be rescued. God will save us again and again. Eternally? No. That’s a one-and-done. But situationally? Absolutely. That is what Hebrews 4:16 is all about. God will never fail to save us in our situations. That’s who He is.

A) It is time for judgment to begin: This is not eternal judgment. This is challenging one another to reflect Jesus when what we do is not what Jesus would want us to do (according to Jesus and not ourselves). This is in the church. B) I had a dream the night before writing this. It was a weird one but had a kernel of truth. In the dream, a brother (who, in the dream, was a jerk but a believer) did something horrible to a female sister. Not sexual, but humiliating, racist, and degrading. In the dream, I quoted this to him and told him to stop being an idiot in forceful terms. It may not be a perfect example, but his behavior was way past biblical standards. I was more struck that the sin was much more grievous than standard. It was no opinion that it was sin. C) If Christians are just getting through, by the blood of Jesus, and somewhat by the skin of our teeth, where will the rebellious end up? So, if we are suffering some now, it cannot be compared to those suffering later.

TOP SHOW: 1) What was the mission of Jesus? If you ask someone who doesn’t know Jesus from a paper bag, they will say, “to spread love.” Wrong. The first-time love is mentioned in the New Testament is almost a third of the way into the Sermon on the Mount. And God’s definition of love is NOT love is love. So, the mission of Jesus Christ is identified at the beginning of the New Testament. It is clear. It is unmistakable. And if someone tells you otherwise, they have diluted knowledge of Jesus Christ. The mission of Jesus Christ is to save people from their sins. 2) But so much confusion is attached to understanding what being saved from sin means. And the reason is that salvation cannot be put in a box any more than the Author of salvation can be put in a box. Nevertheless, we can certainly understand salvation or God what have not informed us that we need to be saved. And if salvation came from us (as opposed to a gift from God), the Lord would have made our Saviour a banker. That would be so that He could teach us how to have a positive balance in our morality bank account instead of a negative balance through good works. 3) What we can say is that the reason that God offers us the gift of salvation IS... because He loves us. He loved us, loves us, and will love us. But that is only from our perspective. From God’s perspective, His love never moved.

TOP SHOW: A) Can you imagine praying for Divine scrutiny? That’s like asking God to scan you for all your faults and sins. But that is not a problem if you truly believe that God already knows your sins and has mercy on you, and your chief desire is for Him to help you root out the evils. That’s the ticket. You can overcome because of Jesus. But sometimes, we need guidance on what exactly we need to overcome. B) The following few verses are about David being honest about his process. He is not trying to establish himself as righteous compared to God. Instead, he simply says, “I’m giving this the old college try.” He wants to get it right. And some things he is getting right. But he knows there is more. C) To the altar so that the praise can be raised. At the altar of God, it becomes much easier to enter into praise. When we are there, other stuff shrinks fast. D) Guess why it’s easy to praise God at the altar? Because that’s where His glory dwells. And the glory of God can be so intense that people can stay in His presence. Remember Exodus 40:35.

1) Testing, one, two, three, testing. Have you ever heard that expression? Sure you have. What is going on when we hear that? The person is trying to make sure that the receivers of the sound can receive sound decimals. This is not that far off from God’s approach to teaching. In truth, He used this method with Abraham. Genesis 22:1 state, After these things, God tested Abraham. Let’s remember that we are spiritual descendants of good old Abe. 2) Oh No. Here comes a teaching that is going to challenge almost every person’s thought process of political leaders and celebrities, even the so-called media celebrities. People say that they believe all the time. But by their fruits, you shall know them, according to Jesus (Matthew 7:16). And Jesus went a whole lot further than this. He challenged the idea that people could be true believers if they sought the praise of men. Of course, everyone wants to be liked. But the Christian has picked the wrong faith for that. That’s why people who claim to be Christians but try to placate the world and worldly are not even close to the real Jesus. 3) Let’s lay down the question. Have you read the end of the book? The Bible is what I am referring to. Who wins? God does. Whose side do we seek to be on? God’s side. So if God wins, being with God means we win. So, let’s live as we win. Because we do.

Mother-in-law. No, it cannot be translated, cousin. He was married. He traveled without his wife. Paul references this when he states, in 1 Corinthians 9:5, Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas? He touched her “hand.” So what? Doesn’t Jesus know that He is supposed to make huge and annoying noises and then lay His hands firmly upon the woman’s head and SHOUT…Be Healed? Tsk, tsk. No showmanship. Oh My! It’s Gospel truth time. Jesus fulfilled the prophecy from Isaiah regarding the Messiah. The argument that Jesus doesn’t heal is based on the past tense of this verse. “What was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled,” goes the argument. So, goes the argument; it is past tense. Wowzers. I guess linguistics is dead for some scholars. Why? Because the entire prophecy was written in the past tense, before the incarnation of Christ. So, that duck won’t hunt. B) Our weaknesses and our diseases. It might be an exciting study to dive deep into our weaknesses, being physical infirmities. It definitely holds water sickness and disease make us weak. But redemption and healing are spiritual, physical, emotional, and psychological. Let’s see; four areas of healing and four Gospels. Who knows?

REMEMBER: JOB’S FRIENDS SHARE TRUTHS BUT WITH THE WRONG ASSUMPTIONS. Here is an undeniable truth from Eliphaz: Resentment destroys fools. It’s not that resentment is okey-dokey for the wise. That is a complete misunderstanding of the principle. Fools believe there is no God. And fools hold on to resentment. Like a cancer, the root of bitterness will grow inside a person and destroy them. So, Hebrews 12:15 “warns” the Christian: See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Even bitterness towards God. 2) Sticking with the principle of fools, we need to address what Jesus said about calling someone a fool. How can we quote “the fool has said in his heart” (Psalm 14:1) without getting in trouble with Jesus? Over 120 references for a fool and fools. By the way. Here is the ticket: The supplements. 3) Turning from God may produce success…for a season. But seasons pass. And so does success. And so does life. There is still a toll to pay. And even if it’s all the way at the end, the price will be extracted in the Great Judgment: one way or another. Hebrews 11:25 states, Choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. The result of sin is death. The end result of sin is eternal separation from God.

A) If you are insulted. You are blessed. But wait just a minute. Not if you are insulted because you are a jerk. Then, you are not blessed. You are a jerk. But if you are insulted (ridiculed, disrespected) for The Name of Christ. Jesus said the same thing: Matthew 5:11, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. B) The Spirit of glory and of God: The Holy Spirit. Not only does He live in you, but he also “rests” upon you. The idea is that the Spirit lives within for character and Christ-likeness and upon us for ministry and warfare. C) Suffering as a sinner is not impressive to man or God. And Peter covers the entire spectrum, from the worst (a murderer) to what seems insignificant (a meddler). Both of these are problems. Sin, unchecked and unrepented, brings problems.

1) It’s against the Jewish Laws, but God has shown me. So, here we can unpack the two monumental principles that the New Testament has brought to the forefront. It’s not the elimination of the Jewish people, but it is a distinct change in the Jewish Laws. And Peter gets this fundamental principle. You have grown up this way, but now it goes this way. Hold on a second. Didn’t Jesus say this in the sermon on the mount? By Jove, I think we’ve got it. 2) I should never think of anyone as impure. This could be a bit of what our show is all about. But, no. I don’t care about your denominational background. I care that you have an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, given as a gift from God the Father through His grace and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Our unity is in the Godhead. This does not include how the end comes about. Psalm 119:63 states, I am a companion to all who fear you and those who keep your precepts. 3) God gives people messages. Guess how He does that? His Word, nature, dreams, miracles, and circumstances are through prayer. But what is one of God’s most common ways to speak to people? Through other people. What does that mean? That means that we need to listen up a little more often and a little more carefully.
