A) Peter’s House: O boy. We are gonna have a challenge coming up. Peter had a house. We do an injustice to the scriptures when we say Jesus had no center of operations. But Dave, the Son of Man, has nowhere to lay His head. True, but when He said that, he was visiting a different territory. V. 18 states, Now when Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. Sorry.

1) To open up today’s show, we are going to do something a little different. We are going to examine a passage that has created complexities for many; it may not be as tricky as we examine it word by word and principle by principle. The text is coming from 2 Kings 2. The portion has to do with Elisha. An issue is a group that insults the prophet. The surprise actors in this drama are the she-bears that responded to the command of God. The result is much deeper than what first appears. A politician said he would never believe the Bible with a story like this. It’s nothing short of God sending him strong delusions for that guy to believe a lie (2 Thess. 2;11). 2) We visit our great friend, Pastor Ray, who is not “gone” but hanging with JC and not forgotten because his kingdom efforts will endure for eternity. Pastor Ray writes about compassion. His power of compassion is released in our lives and other lives all around us through the love of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. The power of God’s compassion is glorious. And without His compassion in operation, we will never see the REAL miracle power of God. We miss you, brother.

1) Keep in mind that as we travel into Job, that some of the STATEMENTS are biblically correct by themselves. We will spend some time highlighting what these statements mean. But the spirit with which they were delivered and the three friends’ condemnation of Job shed light on why God was angry with them. The three friends assumed Job had sinned. They were wrong, just like Job’s evaluation will be wrong. They assumed they knew why and what God was doing with Job. That false assumption led them to sin. 2) There is nothing wrong with this statement on the surface (get used to this phrasing from me regarding this Job study). What a man sows, so shall he reap. This is testified to in Galatians 6:7. However, for those keeping score, Karma causality is about 400 years behind the biblical principles in the Old Testament. 3) Can something that is stained be as pure as something that is not stained? No. Let’s say you have a brand-new white bedsheet. It’s pristine. Your first grader sits in the middle of the sheet with her permanent marker. You see an unbleachable stain where a marker has bled onto the sheet. You can sew as much new white fabric to the edges as you wish, but it will not undo the fact that there is a huge stain in the middle of the sheet. Adding material around the stain doesn’t remove the stain. The stain has to be covered or cut out. In the same way, adding good works does not pay for bad works.

For all those religious and political pundits who say that they (or Christians) don’t speak for God, here comes a substantial dose of reality. The Bible says they are ALL wrong. Speak as one who speaks the very words of God. Serve as one who serves with God’s strength and energy. B) That in all things: The world may think you are a terrific Christian. Oops. It doesn’t say that. It states the ULTIMATE purpose: That God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. Not that people may like you or approve of you. What people think of us is ego-driven. What God thinks of us is eternity-driven. So, let’s be driven the right way.

1) God is constantly renewing us. He is constantly renewing our new man. Our Born-Again us is the one that is fed by the word of God (which God equates to bread, Matthew 4:4) and by prayer (which God equates to drinking more of Him, Psalm 42:1). The key is to ditch the theology that says the old you is GONE. Defeated? Yes! Disappeared? NO. That is Why are new man needs to be renewed. 2) Jesus is God. No, He doesn’t just represent God. He is God. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus forgives a third-party person who is not directly or indirectly connected to Jesus. Only God can third-party forgive sins. The Jewish leaders were angry that Jesus healed on the Sabbath. But they were much more irritated that Jesus made Himself equal to God. This is referencing the Deity of Jesus.

A) The end of the ages. Gee Dave, when might that be? Hmmm…Wars and rumors of wars? That requires mass communications. Famines? Yep. Earthquakes? More than ever. But the real biggy? The increase in persecution. Being a Christian 40 years ago was fine. Now, it has become more dangerous.
B) Once to die. At Farrell’s restaurant. The waiter asked me a few questions. So, I asked him back. His solution? Reincarnation. His problem. Hebrews 9:27. Sorry, Charlie, but no soup for you.

1) What could the vision mean? While Peter was not likely as intellectual as Paul or Luke, he was no dummy. His confessions, his faith, and his ministry were intense. But he wasn’t sure what the vision meant. He saw it, but he had to think about it. Has this ever happened to you? It sure has happened to me. Whether it was a dream, a picture in my mind, or a thought that was higher than mine, I’ve had to contemplate the ramifications of the communications of God. 2) Of course, timing is EVERYTHING. At the same time, Peter has a vision being manifested; he has visitors. There is a schedule from God. And He is never late. I know that we all believe that God is good at setting situations up, but do we REALLY understand how Divine, miraculous, and phenomenal it all is? Exodus 12:40-41, from the arrival of Jacob: Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord’s divisions left Egypt. 3) There are four marvelous instructions from the Holy Spirit to Peter. Catch this: The instructions show the situation, the direction, the attitude, and the authority. If we look closely enough at our own situations, we will find many such pearls of wisdom tucked inside each moment.

A) If we ask anything according to will. So, let’s be honest. Not every prayer is according to His will. The truth is that we ask too much that is NOT part of His will. James 4:3 states, You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. B) He hears us. If God hears us and says yes, then the answer is Yes, even if that request is for Him to stop the universe in its tracks, just like Joshua did. If we know He hears us, we know…We Got It…Because We Get It! C) A sin not leading to death. What the heck is that? We examine the three main interpretations that have been applied to this text. I won’t tell you which one you should lean towards, but it’s sufficient to say it’s 2 or 3, not the first one. D) The sneaky part of this text is whether it is spiritual or physical death. But what sin can we commit that does lead to death? Repented sin. Unrepented sin leads to death, destruction, and decay. Quick confession to life. Psalm 32/51.
