The David Spoon Experience 10-25-22 Part 1

A) The centurion came to Jesus: There are no contradictions related to this story’s different accounts. The Gospels are not “history” books, although they are HIS STORY books. The Gospels are four different accounts from four different perspectives of the same events. One elephant, four sides. B) A centurion is in charge of about 100 soldiers. How do we know that? A century is 100 years. Get it? He needs help. He is not used to needing help. But when the realm is beyond us, we go to God. C) He comes on behalf of another. His servant. Not his special friend, as the perverted and twisted LGBTQRSTUV would claim. On the contrary, he cared for the people under him like a decent human being. D) Am I to come…or I will come…makes no difference to the truths being taught. Because the soldier said, “You don’t need to go,” we can at least surmise that Jesus was willing to go. But the soldier knew something that we often miss.

1) How is it possible to give a ten percent offering with a generous spirit? Here is the key to giving (Yes, it’s about biblical giving). When you give to God, it’s NOT the amount; it’s the spirit. Spare change? Then God should give to you the “spare change” and nothing more. Here is the key! God is looking at my heart and at your heart. Is it always perfect? Not likely. Is it fake? God knows. 2) The whole heart is significantly more important than the entire law. This is EXACTLY what Jesus taught. Your heart is the key ingredient to understanding the purposes of God. If your heart is contrary, then you fight against the word. If it is in submission to God’spuposes, then you rejoice when the Spirit of God challenges you. It;’s not about being perfect; it’s about being more like Jesus. 3) We visit our great friend, Pastor Ray, who is not “gone” but hanging with JC and not forgotten because his kingdom efforts will endure for eternity. Pastor Ray writes about forgiveness. And His power of grace is released in our lives and other lives all around us. The power of God’s forgiveness is glorious. But can there be a limit? Do we want God to have a limitation with us? No. We miss you, brother.

A) Live out the remaining time: Who doesn’t wonder why God doesn’t take us the moment we say “yes” to Him? However, the challenge is that His plan is different than ours. And we just finished calling Him, Lord. B) Living the remainder of our time, between now and the rapture, or between now and the personal return of Christ, or between now and our personal time for the return of Jesus, CANNOT be for our pleasures. C) Okey, Dokey… let’s be honest. We have all partied enough. That’s EXACTLY what God says. Enough of the past. Time to live for eternity. D) Sex, booze, and adoration of what and who is Not God. Get it?

1) You talk like a godless woman: Contrary to popular positions, this wife is not a non-believer. You don’t say “curse God” if you are a disbeliever. You say this when you are so mad at Him that you freak out. You say this when you are so hurt you can’t understand what is happening. You say this when you misunderstand God. 2) In all this: Here is the most honest question, which we get an answer for in Job 32. Should we (including you and me) accept good from God, not Bad? But, wait for a second: Can bad come from God? The answer to this question depends on our understanding of God. If everything good is God and everything bad is not God, it sounds great, But it’s not scriptural. 3) It is certainly NOT that God is bad. But bad stuff happens BECAUSE God is right and true, and sin entered the world because of the rebellion of mankind. And bad stuff comes because, in mankind’s sin, they gave authority over to the enemy. The result of sin is super bad everything.

1) I believe that I can write this show introduction with a great deal of conviction and experience. I have been hurt in the church. Badly. In reality, faith-altering levels. But I have been a Christian for 44 years. The horrible church stuff was from year 2 to year 6. That’s about four years. That leaves 40 years when the church has not been lousy. It hasn’t been perfect. In truth, in some cases, it’s been outstanding. And that is as a pastor and a member. All that to say this: Go to church. Be connected. Be in fellowship, or you are disobedient to Jesus, who said, “a new commandment I give to you…love one another.” We can’t do that by ourselves. 2) Christian music artists are awesome. Christian teachers, national and local, are awesome. Christian entertainers are awesome. Christian servants are awesome. Christian brothers and sisters are awesome. But only to a degree. All of us are limited in how awesome we are or can be. There is only One who is forever and always awesome. And He doesn’t need us to be awesome the way we need Him, just to breathe, let alone to be awesome. No flesh shall glory. 3) Okay. Here is a secret. Well, it’s not a secret. But we act that way. All of our understanding, comprehension, insight, illumination, revelation, grasping, and knowledge come from somewhere. Colossians 2:3 states, All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him. Care to take guess where it all comes from? If you said JESUS, you win the prize. If you know Him, you know the prize.

A) If animal sacrifices helped people by symbolically pointing to Jesus, How much more with the real deal mean? And if the true Lamb of God, through the Holy Spirit’s power, presented Himself to the Father, won’t that work a billion times better? B) The cleansing of the conscience. Not some mystical or theoretical human cover-up. The mind that is freshly renewed by the blood of Jesus is the mind that fights against a defiled conscience. It’s real power. C) This is why you and I can present ourselves to the Lord for service. Not because we are self-worthy but because we are Christ-willing to serve. A defiled mind (not momentary but continually defiled) cannot serve God or His Kingdom. D) This is why Jesus is the Mediator of the New Covenant. ONLY He can genuinely bridge the gap between Man and God because He is both Man, and God.

The David Spoon Experience 10-20-22 Part 2

Shorty calls in with a phenomenal poem, actually two poems, and an incredible testimony of faith. 1) There are those people. You may be one of them. I hope you are. They are always thinking about others. They are always trying to do for others. They are genuinely interested in the welfare of others. When these people die, it’s a real bummer. That is the kind of person that Tabitha was, from Joppa. Tabitha means gazelle or gracious. 2) Her friends were preparing for her funeral. How sad. But then, one or more of them had an idea. Peter, the mighty Apostle and companion of Jesus Christ, was close by. Even though Tabitha (also called Dorcas) was dead, they decided to seek Peter out. Tabitha wasn’t sick. She was dead. She was laid in an upper room waiting for her dirt nap. Somewhere between death and burial is a moment. Even in our situations, between death and burial is a moment. And because of Jesus, there is still a moment after burial too. 3) Peter came, cleared the room, commanded, assisted, and presented her alive to the widows and the believers. Faith increased, word spread, and Jesus was glorified. Not too shabby. Just another day …working in the Kingdom.

1) How do we overcome the world and the world system? By our faith. As children of the highest God, we are connected to the King. And through our faith in Him, there is NOTHING that we cannot overcome in this age. And Dave talks a little bit about all of us trying to "break the rules" through the kingdom of God.
