The David Spoon Experience Part 2 9-22-22
Wednesday Sep 21, 2022
Wednesday Sep 21, 2022
This 60-minutes is all about: 1) After all this stuff, Saul is being transformed. He is in Damascus after his contact with Ananias. And he is going to stick around for a while. So, he has to stay with some other believers. How would you like to be the host family for a guy that had people like yourself executed or thrown in jail? It’s only a few days, but imagine being those people. 2) Different people respond to the Christian experience differently. Some people, like myself, after the initial surrender, do nothing special. Some people, after some time, still do nothing special. And then there are the people like Saul, who get zapped, electrified, touched, and turn into a fiery preaching machine. So it’s different for everyone for one simple theological reason; everyone is different. 3) Everybody that heard about this was amazed. They were blown away that Saul, who was persecuting their faith, was now promoting that same faith. He became a hero to believers and a deplorable to the deceivers and unbelievers. Saul joined God’s army, discovering he was more hated than ever before. Gee…now where have I heard this before?

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) Christian Kaos, part four: A tale of two cities. A tale of three kings. A tale of four Jews. That’s the ticker, and here we go: Four Jewish Christians, all from the same city in Detroit, Michigan, all living in the same neighborhood, two of which were, and still are, best friends. All saying yes to Jesus within thirty days of each other. And all on fire for Jesus ChristAfter that, we were known as The Four Musketeers. 2) Later, a new dynamic emerged. Ken told us that if we needed to get counseling, he was available for anything large or small. No costs and no worries about privacy. He told us it was as sacred as sharing with an attorney when we counseled a pastor. And he promised that nobody would ever hear about it, and he would never judge us no matter what he heard. We didn’t know any better. And a man of God would never lie. Ken lied. And it was brutal. 3) But as God beat the Saul out of david before he became king, God was beating the Ken out of me before I would reach more people. So I made a gigantic attempt to depart, but my initial efforts were thwarted. I was not as wise as Jacob when he took off from Laban. But I had earned manipulation from three masters; my grandma, mom, and Ken. And it was time to put the Jewish mindset to work.

This 30-minutes is all about: A) Yah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death: This is not death itself, but being close to the end. Like shadow close. And a valley implies a marge territory at a low point. B) I fear no evil: A decision - a choice of fear or not to fear. Yes, it is a choice. Guess what? So is faith. C) For You are with me: The Lord is with us in the good and bad times. It would be helpful if we would say this and act like we believe this too. D) Your rod and Your staff comfort me: The rod is for correction, and the staff is for guidance. And both are for protection.

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) Okey Dokie artichokes. There was no “Eye of the Needle” entrance in Jerusalem. There was no idea of an eye of the needle until the 900s. I used to like Bill O’Reilly, but his bible understanding was highly flawed. The3 story breaks down like this: Jesus said it is difficult for a wealthy person to enter the kingdom of God. Why? Because of self-reliance. This threw the disciples for a lop because they, like most of us today, think God favors the wealthy. Wrongo bongo. Salvation is impossible without the direct action of God. And He favors the poor (James 2:5). 2) Here is a fantastic thought. It is better to be disciplined by God than to be ignored by God. As brutal as this may sound, open rebuke is better than secret love. And God only disciplines those He loves. To be disciplined by God is a message that He loves us. When He jumps into our lives with what we think is a mushy mess, He tells us that he loves us enough to get involved with the stiff of life. That is much better than God not paying attention to us. 3) In keeping with the goofy worldly interpretation of the camel and the eye of the needle, let’s throw another truth into the mix. The world of science is always, no wait, never settled. But, unlike God’s truth, science changes with the creation of tacos and burritos. Trusting the science is like agreeing with medical doctors that smoking is good for you. Or better yet, the overall accusation that Bible Believers believed the earth was flat. The faithful church of God never believed that. But the governments who played religion did. God told everyone that the world was round. Go figure.

This 30-minutes is all about: 1) People who hear and act upon the words of Jesus are wise. People who do not act upon what they hear of Jesus are not smart. Here is the catch; To listen to what Jesus said, you HAVE TO read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. That does not mean people are wise because they went to church. Sorry. 2) The people that act upon what Jesus said, not feel good about what Jesus said, are like a rock. Not in their brains but in the stability of their life. 3) The rains fell, the river rose, and the wind blew. This is not a probability for people. This is a certainty for people. The only difference is what people are standing on or standing in. It’s about the difference between collapsing and collapsing and crashing. Everyone collapses, but not everyone crashes.

1) In writing, from the hand of the Lord. How can the Bible be legit? Well, the Hand that made the universe, the solar system, the planets, the earth, the oceans, the mountains, and the inhabitants of the planet was involved. The scriptures connect the movement of the Holy Spirit to the writing of God’s material in 2 Peter 1:21. But it also demonstrates here that the writings of God are from the hand of God. And, as you know, in the process of logic, the God that created the universe can write a book. And the God that can write a book can keep His message safe. Why? Because His Word endured FOREVER. 2) Let’s add a little Yoda into our insights. We need to serve with our whole hearts and willing minds. But along with this simple request for every ounce of our beings to be devoted to Him, we have to add this: The Chrisitan walk is not JUST about trying. It is also about doing. When we need help doing things, we ask. But when we CAN do, we do.

A) The Holy Spirit was making it clear: We must catch this incredible truth. The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, by the building of the tabernacle and by the people functioning in ministry, brought to light this key: Something better was coming. Jesus was coming. B) The one thing rarely discussed is the Old Testament process for receiving and operating in forgiveness. Because the Holy Spirit didn’t abide in people to the same degree that the New Covenant brings (aka the outpouring of the Holy Spirit), forgiveness was operating in fullness.
