The David Spoon Experience Part 2 8-04-2022

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) The response of the eunuch is powerful. First, he hears the Gospel from Phillip, which entirely consists of Good News. Therefore, the Gospel is GOOD NEWS. Then, after he hears about God’s love, grace, and mercy, he wants to do whatever it takes to become part of the family. His explanation of the Gospel shows that Philipp shared the importance of baptism. Do not dismiss this. You are not responding fully to the Gospel if you have not been baptized. It is a command. 2) We will be doing comprehensive teaching on baptism next week or so. There are several different interpretations and applications. That is NOT our purpose here. But I would like to point out that I have been baptized about six times. Why? Because it was vital for me to do so. 3) After this experience, the Holy Spirit carries Phillip away. Carry means to seize, catch up, snatch away—the same Greek root word in 1 Thess. 4:17. The eunuch went on his Chrisitan journey, full of joy. Remember those days. He never saw Phillip again, which is God’s way of saying that he uses people in our lives, and then He moves us on and uses others to help us. That is all a part of the normal process. You are normal.

This 30-minutes is all about: A) By this, we know. There are MANY proofs that we are the children of God. We have a genuine love for God and the things of God. We love the family of God. We have an active faith. But here is the key to the deposit. The Holy Spirit gives us witness. B) Do NOT believe every spirit. Do not believe every person. Do not believe every politician. Do not believe every person of fame. Do not believe every (or any) media. And do not believe every person who claims to be a minister or a Chrisitan. Why? Because EVERY person is a liar. C) So, how do we know? Test, test, test. In about four minutes of conversation or a minor amount of review, you can pretty well figure out if a person is legit or should be quit (Yes, an MC Hammer reference. And you gotta pray just to make it today). People can disagree on the various applications of scripture. But liars always be lying.

The David Spoon Experience Part 2 08-03-2022

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) The ultimate pursuit of mankind is to be happy. However, even living forever falls short if a person’s life is nothing but misery. Therefore, being happy is the number one pursuit. The problem is that the creation does not know how to attain that level of happiness. Therefore, only the Creator of the creation can supply the happiness that everyone seeks. When we achieve satisfaction, we can only hold it for a moment. But most of us want it for a lifetime. 2) Let’s be a bit more honest. We, as humans, seek happiness in a few of these things: Relationships, riches, good health, big houses, many children and grandchildren, power, fame, influence, sex, drugs, and rock and roll. But even when we experience the best of any of these things, they always seem to fall short. Like sin, It misses the mark. 3) So too often, we feel crappy, not happy. And we look to heaven and ask why our scrapbooking class or bowling league didn’t seal the deal. We try to make ourselves happy by medication (or even meditating), but there is always a fail. Then we take up a cause more significant than ourselves, believing that this will do it. But there is still misery. What are we to do? Follow the bouncing ball that God makes clear. We examine that ball.

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) How long has the Gospel been around? Revelation 14:6 states, Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. So the Gospel has a deep history. How deep? And Revelation 13:8 make it clear: from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain. And God shared it clearly with Abraham, which was for US to see. And 2 Timothy states, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. 2) We examine Psalm 86, which is a prayer from David. He petitions the Lord, teach me, and then I can walk in Your truth. We must be forever white belts in karate, always learning and never reaching the fake plateau of us acting like we know enough. Philippians 1:9, And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight. 3) Where does the win come from? We should all know the 2 Corinthians 2:14 verse: I am grateful that God always makes it possible for Christ to lead us to victory. God also helps us spread the knowledge about Christ everywhere, and this knowledge is like the smell of perfume. That and many other scriptures declare that for us authentic Christian believers, Jesus Christ is the source of our victories.

This 30-minutes is all about: A) Don’t give what is holy to dogs. But, boy, it sure is good that Jesus is speaking in such a literal fashion that dogs and pigs don’t get our sacred insights. Those lucky cats. B) I think pearls are excellent, specifically for the people of God. But there are NOT for those who mock Jesus. The pearls are understood as a great value of the kingdom of God. Matthew 13:45 states, Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. 46When he found one very precious pearl, he went away and sold all he had and bought it. C) Trample the pearls and tear you up. Then, when we give the precious of the kingdom, the pigs and dogs throw it back in our face and try to rip us into pieces.
