The David Spoon Experience Part 2 6-9-2022

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) Stephen rocks the house with the gift of being able to see right into the throne of God. And this moment of sacrificing his life connects him to Jesus in a unique way. What’s evening more amazing is that he sees Jesus standing. When Jesus is described as being at the Father’s right hand, He is always sitting. But in this scene, Jesus is standing. Is it in acknowledgment of Stephan’s love for Him? Maybe. But one thing is for sure: heaven’s beings are not frozen. They sit, stand, sing, move, and groove. 2) Freak out. Yeah…freak out. That is what the unbelievers did in response to Stephan seeing Jesus. They flipped out. Does that sound familiar? They became upset because Stephan had a clear, non-diluted, honest and earnest picture of Jesus. They lost it, covered their ears, screamed loud enough to drown out Stephan’s words, and rushed after him. And they killed him. Why would it or should it be different today than it was back then? In specific ways, it’s the exact same. 3) The last two prayers of Stephan are masterpieces of how the grace of God works through the lives of His children. The first prayer is for the Lord to receive him. Stephan just wants in. And he asks “JESUS” to bring him on home. The second prayer is for the people who have done all this wrong to him to be forgiven. Who does that sound like? It’s just like Jesus. When we love Jesus, we want to follow His example. He didn’t ignore sin—He prayed for them to receive mercy.

This 30-minutes is all about: A) To the core of our faith: Behold…have a fixated stare. Keep your eyes on…this central truth. God loves us so much that He calls us His kids. His love is so great that He adopted us. B) Why doesn’t the world and the people of the world get us? What is it that we have but that they don’t have? Him. The Father. Jesus. The Holy Spirit. C) Right now, right this moment, we ARE the children of God. But we only know this to a degree. What is coming is beyond what we know. What is coming is beyond what we think.

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) Going around the corner a second time. First, let’s look at how doing great looks. Then, let’s look at how doing not great looks. Why should we look at both sides of this? Because that is how life often can be. And it only shows that we are typical disciples that Jesus would pick. Isn’t that nice? However, what looks not so great comes down to whose agenda we are trying to walk in. We have an agenda. God has an agenda. But our agenda is the not so great. 2) Oh, the methods of God. They are so easy to figure out, aren’t they? Of course, the secret things belong to the Lord, according to Deuteronomy 29:29, but what does that matter? We always get it right. That’s why we offer an explanation for everything that God is doing in our lives. We do this because we have to give some justification for all the stuff that happens to us. After all, if we couldn’t put the puzzle together, then we would have to trust the Lord for life events. And who can afford to do that? 3) Here comes the hard part. God often operates outside of our parameters, just like Jesus operated outside of what the people that the Messiah ought to be. Yet, there is a blessing promised to us if we DON’T FALL AWAY on account of Jesus. So how are we doing with that?

This 30-minutes is all about: A) Enter into Psalm 20. This psalm is about petitioning on behalf of others. It’s all about God’s saving work. The first four verses start with the same word FIVE times: A humble petition that beseeches the Lord’s favor with the reverent submission of “May….” B) According to your heart’s desire: This portion is for other people’s desires. For example, petitioning for the sake of others to be blessed and to receive great things. Not from the wickedness of their hearts but the good portion. C) A collective connection at the end: WE will rejoice in YOUR salvation—the Psalm shifts from others to be blessed to every being in the heavenly band of worshipping God.

D) The last portion reminds us that trusting in anything man-made, or even in nature, is foolishness. Out trust is in the Lord

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) Part One: One thing that twists many believers’ minds is the time that Jesus and Satan went at it in the wilderness. Jesus rebuffed him continually using the word of God. He quoted Deuteronomy, which shows how powerful the Old and the New Testaments are. But in this exchange, there was something that the enemy said that should have caught all of our attention. The enemy made clear that the world’s kingdoms, the authority and the glory had been delivered to the enemy. Jesus DID NOT dispute this. And at the resurrection, it wouldn’t last. But at that moment, Satan had this. How did that happen? 2) Part Two: We all scream about freedom. In this country, we even have a state whose motto is “Live free or die.” Wow...we must take this stuff pretty seriously. Being free is one of the key appeals of the Gospel. But that freedom does not give any believer a pass, or even the right, to operate in licentiousness. In truth, our newfound freedom enables us to CHOOSE to be slaves of the Lord. That is the freedom that we get to make a choice…to surrender. 3) Love, Love, Love. We even had a show called “Love, American Style.” Why did we need a show that demonstrated the American way to love? To communicate that it is DIFFERENT than biblical love. We examine only four of these biblical definitions. If Americans love like this, then our witness for the Lord would be beyond powerful. Love is more to honor Jesus than to read at a wedding. Do we…love it?

Because it won’t last any longer than you and me. On earth, it has a short life span. B) Do. Do it, do it. Gonna do it. Yep… do. Store up treasures in Heaven where they will last and not perish. Invest wisely. C) Where we store is where our hearts are. Store down here; it says it all. Store up there; it says it all.
