The David Spoon Experience Part 2 5-20-2022

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) Do you remember the Monty Python movie where all the monks were walking in a single line? They all had a big piece of wood in their hands. Every few steps and chants, they would smack themselves in the face with the wood. That’s what some people think that serving God is like. Wrong! And here is another primary truth; We serve God with reverence and awe, but not with dread or a terrorizing mindset. We serve God because we love God. And we serve Him…without FEAR! 2) 2 Timothy 4:3 states: The time is coming when people won’t listen to good teaching. Instead, they will look for teachers who will please them by telling them only what they are itching to hear. It’s hard to listen to a rebuke. But open rebuke is better than secret love. Even if we want every message, every sermon, and every show can be flowers and cotton candy. We need to speak and hear what the Lord wants us to. So instead of being fakely puffed up, let’s be real. And hear the truth.

This 30-minutes is all about: A) There is no one greater, no one better, and no one more reliable than God. He is so absolutely more reliable than anyone else that He had to swear by Himself. What else could He do? B) After waiting patiently. Not initially, but eventually. Gee, that sounds an awful lot like you and me. We receive the promises of God when we wait patiently. When we don’t, we create problems. C) Have you ever made plans and then decided, nope...we are going to do this differently. Then decide again, nope, this way is even better? God doesn’t do that. He has a purpose; He has a plan. It’s unchangeable. Did God have a plan for man’s sin? Have you ever heard of Jesus?

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) Here is the big one: In the heart of the Israelites, they wanted to turn back to Egypt. When things aren’t going the way WE want them to; it’s easy to give way to the deception that it was easier before all this Jesus stuff. It was easier when we were in bondage and slaves to various masters who hated and despised us. It only “seems” easier because the grass is always greener on the other side, no matter which side we’re on. 2) The first thing that happens when people turn their hearts away from the Lord, even for only a little bit of time, is to create replacement gods. They didn’t see any leaders, so they decided to make an idol to worship. Man loves to worship. Unfortunately, because of sin, mankind worships what it does not know.

This 30-minutes is all about: A) How do we know for sure that this is the last, last, last hour? People will infiltrate the church, pretending but not lasting. That’s how. That’s exactly what’s happening in foreign countries right now. B) But we have something that every anti-Christ (anyone against Jesus is anti-Christ) can’t have. The (my preference. It fits as a better translation than an anointing from God. The word anointing is from the Greek word, chrisma, anointing, referring to the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit, guiding the receptive believer into the fullness of God’s preferred will.

This 60-minutes is all about: 1) We, as Christians, have such incredible hope. God has promised us an eternity filled with great things and absent of terrible experiences. And we hold firmly to the understanding that the redeeming work of Jesus Christ solidified our salvation. In that sense, we have such a wonderful gift of salvation. The future is outstanding. The past is the greatest act of love. And the present is…the journey between. 2) What are you going to do today, Napoleon? None of your business, gosh? Yep, we might as well get a grip that this movie clip is closer to the truth than our brilliance. So, what is the Holy Spirit going to do today? And what does He want to do with you and me today? Gosh. We don’t know. Because His wisdom is higher than ours. So, we need to trust God and be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is “saying” to the church. You and I are a part of that church, so let’s listen up. 3) As smart as humanity thinks they are, they are not. Don’t go anywhere yet. How about this one? As brilliant as CHRISTIANS believe they are, we are not. Yes, God has indeed given us a grasp of who He is. But we have that because God gives it to us. It’s not to say and believe that…his ways are HIGHER!

This 30-minutes is all about: A) The Law of the Lord is PERFECT: There is something exceedingly Divine about the Bible. And if an alien came to earth and gave us a book, we would read it endlessly. Well, guess what? B) ABLE TO RESTORE THE SOUL: It is the most powerful writing that has ever been created. It breathed back into us the same way that God breathed into Adam. Job 33:4 For the Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. C) The testimony of the Lord is sure. With the written Word is the reality of the testimonies of God in our lives. They cannot be denied.
