The David Spoon Experience Part 2 9-9-21

Welcome to the 90-minute show of The David Spoon Experience.
This 60-minutes is all about:
1) Initially denying Jesus does NOT mean always denying Jesus. This is evidenced at the crucifixion. The people were following a mob mentality and didn’t realize the depth of their sinful ways. That is why Jesus asked the Father to forgive them (Luke 23:34). But each person was, and is, going to have a revisit. And how they proceed will help them understand where they will proceed.
2) It is an amazing reality that we often do the opposite of what we should do. Not always, but often. Here, as Peter retells the story of the redeeming work of Jesus and His sacrifice, the people end up seeking to kill the one person who can grant them the quality and the quantity of the life they seek. That’s how bad sin messes people up.
3) His name. The name of Jesus. What does the name signify? His position, His authority, and His realm! What does it mean to have faith in His name? It means that, like the centurion, we have faith in the authority of Jesus Christ. When we have faith in the name of Jesus, we have faith that Jesus has all authority in Heaven and on earth. So, do we believe the scriptures (Matthew 28:18-20) or not?

1) Oh my goodness. Who would not want the blueprints to our Christian faith? We want the plat mat or the Mater plan (yep…one of those city ideas) that we can follow. Does this mean that God will give us this plan? No. And He owes nobody an explanation. Two steps forward and one step back is still one net step.
2) I know that you have heard it before. And to be honest, you WILL hear it again. So chill. To understand that in the midst of your trials, you will need to stop freaking out, and trust that God knows what He is doing is essential for every believer, even if you’re a superman in the kingdom of God. Here is the key. It’s not about you! It’s about Jesus. Period.
3) What should we do when we stop trying to figure out what we are doing and do what God wants us to do? Should we do what everyone else thinks we should do? We should do what God WANTS us to do. Let’s do that. Amazing. What God wants us to do, what we should do, is what we should do.

D) Then the news spread: Word of mouth that counts; Talk about social networking. God’s communication can sweep the world in a moment.

This 60-minutes is all about:
1) Reliable. That characteristic is hard to find in people. And sometimes, even in ourselves. Consistent, dependable, steadfast, unswerving, and faithful. If only there were Someone on the planet who could ALWAYS exhibit these qualities. And that Person was willing to hang out with us. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Wouldn’t that be Jesus?
2) There is a distaste for many displays of repulsive sins by people. The problem for Christians is that we often treat these public sins with LESS disgust than with people’s hidden sins. But the biblical reality is that people are still redeemable, even if their lifestyles are unacceptable. So we tackle (with a little wisdom) one of these groups. Of course, not every one of our segments is flowers and candy.
3) Faith is critical to our Christian walk. We even call our belief “The Christian Faith.” But at times, our faith is spread out too wide. We have faith, but it operates more like a shotgun spread when we need something more specific by way of targeting. Sometimes, a sniper-style of faith is more beneficial. So we examine where to put our target for faith. It’s simpler, it’s easier, and it’s extremely effective! Bang.

A) Rocking and rolling (feet on the Rock, name on the role) in Hebrews.
B) Jesus has humanity in common with us, so He gets it.
C) Through His death, He “destroyed” the Devil (Positionally, not practically) who held the power of death.
D) He did destroy the FEAR of death and its slavery to humanity.

The David Spoon Experience Part 2 9-3-21

Welcome to the 90-minute show of The David Spoon Experience.
This 60-minutes is all about:
1) We receive from God so many wonderful things. But, too often, we think that what we do get from God is a hard time. But the reality of our faith is that what God gives to us is to help us be like Jesus. He gives us His Spirit. And His Spirit frees us from the power of fear. Fear does not own territory inside of us. It always trespasses.
2) It’s time, once again, to return to the wisdom of our great friend. We examine a devotion from our brother Pastor Ray on Fridays with Ray. In today’s lesson, he dives into the power of God’s grace and how that grace calls us to a specialized work from God. Something that is God’s grace in partnership with something that has only our fingerprints. How cool is that? It’s very cool. That’s how cool.
3) A new type of lesson. Something a little different than our norm. We dive into a Greek word because of how much value it brings to us. We take one verse from a future letter that we will be examining through expository means and drive home its application. When we catch it (and we will), it’s like butter. Or like gold. Either way, it ought to be totally AWESOME!

A) Children: Not adult children. Common sense, please. But in the house, children and parents.
B) Fathers: Don’t aggravate or “egg” your kids on. Do not be too hard on them. That creates discouragement. And your Father is watching.
C) Slaves, servants, bond-servants, and the like: What are we talking about? NOT the perversion of American slavery. But simple social structures for society. Remember, there is greatest and least in the Kingdom of God (Matthew 5:19).

1) The lame man in Acts 3, who never walked before in his life, is now walking, running, and jumping. God takes what cannot happen and then makes it happen. And we can and should show people, and tell people, what God has done for us (our own life miracles). People who know us may think we are crazy. But if we keep testifying, they may yet still become …AMAZED!
2) Men of Israel…why are you so surprised? Let’s see; God created the universe, breathed life into humanity, separated a people for His choosing, created a nation from an old couple who couldn’t have children, raised a nation with blessings while their host nation was in a famine, and then split the Red Sea to the point of DRY LAND for the nation of Israel to pass through. So, why are you’ll surprised?
3) Why are you looking at us, sinful people who are only redeemed by the righteousness of Jesus Christ, as though we were the source of the power? God’s goodness exceeds us. And it’s that goodness that manifests in the miraculous. Not by us, or by our power or goodness, but by the sovereign power and will of God. Wowzers!

1) We get before the Lord, and we know there are so many things, so many possibilities, and so many challenges that we come to our private prayer time with an awesome list of things to review with God. And we often skip the truth that God is omniscient and that he doesn’t need our list. He wants our heart, not our To-Do list.
2) How much noise are we letting into our universe between the left and the right ear? Have we bought into the lie that if we don’t watch the news and check out websites on the Internet every hour of every day, then we will be behind in the politics and the social happenings of the world around us? Do we tune in to feed our seething? That’s living in the world, just the way the enemy wants you to—too much noise.
3) The only question that we need to answer to be “informed” is to hear Jesus speaking to us? He speaks all the time. So let’s do something different. Let’s talk about HOW we hear Jesus on a day-by-day level. Then, perhaps when we hear the news, we will understand that the stories were already written many, many ages ago.
