The Eclipse Show: A) Verse 19 is one of my favorite verses because it illustrates the tension between free will and predestination in a single verse. I’m not sure why we can’t just grasp it and keep it simplified in our minds. This verse discusses the solid foundation of God, and it has this seal: number one, “The Lord knows those who are His.” That’s predestination. That’s foreknowledge. Number two, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” That’s free will. That’s independent choice and thought. It’s both for crying out loud.B) Dave shares the escapades of him and Noelle trying to locate a new home in parts 1 and 2. C) Some confusion has seeped into the church regarding Paul’s next statement. In a great house, there are vessels of gold, silver but also of wood, and clay. Some of these vessels are for honor, and some are for dishonor. One view is that regardless of whether a person is gold, silver, wood, or clay, they can still be for honor. Some positions just shine more brightly. Another view is that true teachers are valuable, like gold and silver, while bad teachers are more like wood and clay, not polished or cleaned.

1) It’s Friday, and time for our Dr. Dave’s Devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DDDDD’s. We begin with a concept that is significant to the world but not to God. The entire self-help industry is predicated on self-discovery. After all, you’re entitled. You’re a good person. You deserve recognition for all your commendable deeds. However, if you’re a Christian, you understand that you deserve nothing and that your life is hidden in Christ. So, if you believe you should be finding yourself as a Christian, you don’t fully comprehend Jesus.2) We delve into a profound theological teaching called “The Missing Clause.” Time and again, academia, Hollywood, and the media assert that we are not permitted to judge anyone because that’s what Jesus said. Ironically, that’s not what Jesus said. They continually proclaim this as an absolute truth, but they consistently overlook the context. So, akin to the movie Santa Claus, we will be examining “The Missing Clause.” Without the full words of Jesus, people are missing the point.

A) James Chapter 4, Verse 13 serves as a reminder for us to understand our place as human beings. The scriptures state, “God is in heaven and you are on earth, therefore let your words be few.”B) Verse 13 begins by addressing those who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make a profit.” These sound like solid business plans and are part of the American dream - envision it, believe it, achieve it. C)However, the scripture also reminds us that we don’t know what will happen tomorrow. It compares our life to a mist. Just as I occasionally use a nasal spray that quickly disappears after being sprayed, our lives are fleeting in the eyes of the Lord without His sustaining help.D) The key takeaway is that our time on Earth is brief, and then we vanish. There are three crucial insights from this:
We must understand that our life on this planet is temporary. We are merely visitors on Earth on our journey towards the Son of God.
A dose of humility is wise, given that we have no idea what will happen in the next 30 seconds. We should live with respect and reverence before the Lord.
While it’s admirable to want to leave a legacy, the most meaningful legacy we can leave is one that points people to Jesus. Anything else is simply pride.

1) Starting in Acts 24:11, Paul begins his defense. We've previously discussed this as a form of apologetics, which is to defend the faith. Paul simply states that if one investigates the situation, they'll find that these accusations are false. This isn't difficult to understand. Satan is often the accuser of the brethren, and his accusations are frequently shrouded in lies, much like humanity's accusations against one another. Paul encourages people to seek the truth and not to rely solely on rumors.2) Without reservation, he declares, "I did not incite a riot. I did not argue with anybody." He quickly and boldly acknowledges that he is a follower of The Way, a group of people who follow Jesus Christ as the way, the truth, and the life. He then affirms his faith by stating that he believes in the Jewish law and everything written in the book of prophets. He asserts that the Old Testament leads into the New Testament and simply says, "I have hope in God." It is for this reason that people are upset with him.3) Paul then discusses some of his history, none of which involves him causing problems for others. He was merely providing financial aid to those who share his faith and fulfilling purification rituals. There was no rioting or any problems whatsoever. However, he makes the ultimate case that every Christian needs to be aware of: he was actually on trial because he believes in the resurrection of the dead.4) After Paul's straightforward defense, Felix, who was well-versed in the Christian faith, decided to delay any ruling and allow for a review of the case. In doing so, he granted Paul certain freedoms, including allowing his friends to visit him, take care of him, and meet his needs. This was a reduction in the intensity of the persecution Paul was experiencing, and he used this time to strengthen the faith of other believers in the church. When we catch a break, it's not the time to run and hide, but to encourage others.

A) Jude then provides a historical lesson that many would do well to heed. He recounts how God delivered His people out of Egypt and how those who did not maintain their faith, stay in faith, or walk in faith were destroyed. B) He escalates the narrative by explaining that this is what happened to the angels who did not keep their proper place but abandoned it. These angels were sentenced to eternal chains under darkness as their day of judgment drew closer. We call them demons. God will not spare humans, angels, or any other beings that abandon Him.

1) Praise the Lord, it's Easter time again. For those who deem Easter unworthy of celebration, they fail to grasp the significance of Jesus Christ's resurrection. In truth, Easter should be celebrated daily by Christians, as it symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without this, we have nothing and are, indeed, most miserable.2) Is it essential that Easter is associated with another holiday, whether good, bad, or indifferent? To the pure, all things are pure, but nothing is pure to those who are defiled. It's straightforward. If we use this time to collectively and congregationally celebrate Jesus Christ's resurrection, it is not displeasing to God. Any legalism suggesting otherwise needs to be discarded, as it stems from religiousness rather than true Christianity.3) We delve into the Easter message by examining perhaps the most significant sermon preached after Jesus Christ's resurrection. This sermon, delivered by Peter following the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, was the church's first major effort to capture the hearts and minds of people for the Kingdom of God, with Jesus interceding for them and us at the Father's side.4) Peter's sermon focuses on five main points derived from Jesus Christ's resurrection. The first is the joy of heart, the second is the assurance that our bodies will live in hope, the third is the promise that we will not be abandoned to the grave or elsewhere, the fourth is the understanding that the path of life is through Jesus, and the fifth is the recognition of the profound truth that there is joy in His presence. These five points provide us with the strength to endure when those around us - the worldly, the demonic, the divisive, and the evil - are losing their minds. Because of Jesus, we don't have to lose ours. We thank you, Lord God, for the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

A) Verse 14 presents the declaration we're seeking: "Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving." That's what the Lord desires. It's not the sacrifices, the bulls, or the goats. Those are merely symbols to remind us of whom we're dealing with and who should be acknowledged. The truth is that God desires thanksgiving that originates from our hearts.B) God makes a promise. He says, "If you offer thanksgiving, call upon me in the day of trouble, and I will deliver you, and then you shall glorify me." This is an intriguing formula. Give thanks to God in everything. Call upon Him in your trouble. He will deliver you, and praises will ascend to Him. This sounds correct because it is.

1) Well, well, well, Bert. O.K. that is what my grandson Isaiah Anthony says. We enter into romans 3:21, and the total tonality switch in the writing from the Apostle Paul. Sin is universal and Paul drops the truth boulder by saying everyone has sinned. And everyone is guilty. BUT…which in the dictionary means: “On the other hand,” There is something incredible that is being offered. God…has offered us a different way.
2) This different way if how to be RIGHT in His sight. Why is that important? Because God only “hangs out” with those that are in His league. Kind of like a pro hockey player doesn’t go all in versus a pee wee hockey team. So, what God did was give us better skates and a better stick so we could “play” on his rink. Is it from our skill? Nope. It’s from Jesus subbing on for us.
3) Before we explore how that operates, we must be absolutely steadfast that this new way is NOT because of us. The truth is that this way that is being offered was established by God, by His wisdom, power, and declarations, from the past. And He made I clear through His scriptures. No, man did not and does not always grasp it. But that has nothing to do with the reality that God did say it, beforehand.
4) We are made right with Gid …when we trust in Jesus. We are made right with Gd when we trust in Jesus to take away our sins. But, but, but, Dave people need to do this and that, and say this and that. I’m sorry…did you just call God, a liar? Here is the Greek, specifically: The righteousness of God, through faith, from Jesus Christ, towards all those believing. Change this truth, and you will be challenging God. Good luck with that. Let me know how that goes.

A) I admire what Jesus says and does next. Verse 7 mentions that he touched them. A reassuring touch on the back, accompanied by words of support, can be incredibly powerful. It’s reminiscent of the comforting touch we experienced as babies. After touching the disciples, Jesus gives them two commands: “Get up” and “Don’t be afraid.” This could serve as a powerful mantra for those who are struggling: Rise up, as per the Lord’s command, and do not fear.
B) When the dust settles there's only one place for you not over and that's the Jesus. Love the law above the prophets and above any other self-clean authority we are a listen to Jesus.
C) For reasons known only to Jesus, he instructs them not to share what they’ve seen until the Son of Man has been resurrected. Not all revelations from the Lord should be shared immediately. Wisdom and understanding are necessary. The spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet, meaning you have control over when to share something unless the Holy Spirit compels you otherwise.

1) In Genesis Chapter 3, Verse 16, God reprimands Adam and Eve for their rebellion, which allowed sin to enter the world. This act opened the door to spiritual and physical death, and everything in between, including shame, pain, discomfort, stress, anxiety, and all other negative elements imaginable. All of these afflictions have befallen mankind due to man’s rebellion.2) For Eve, the punishment is clear: she will bear children through intense pain and suffering. The original divine intent was for mankind to procreate without any discomfort. Although we use medicine now to alleviate the pain to a manageable level, God's intent was for pregnancies to be completely painless, resulting only in a beautiful outcome. Along with this, it is understood that a woman will be subject to her husband. It does not imply that every woman is subject to every man, but rather that a wife is subject to her husband.3) God turns to Adam and lays the blame squarely on him: "You listened to your wife and did what I told you not to do. I’m cursing the ground. Your life will be a struggle. Thorns and thistles will sprout from your efforts. You will have to sweat to produce food." God’s original intent for mankind was to enjoy work without sweating, stressing, straining, or experiencing any poor results. Sin certainly disrupted this plan.4) "From the dust you came and to the dust you will return." This is the origin of the common saying, "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust." It's not "dirt to dirt," but "dust to dust," as previously mentioned. Another sad consequence of sin is that humanity returns to the dust, a fate that was never part of God's original intent, but a result of man’s rebellion.

A) In 2nd Timothy chapter two, verse 17, the Apostle Paul warns his young protégé about messages spreading within the church that increase ungodliness. He likens these messages to cancer, an aggressive disease that continually consumes and destroys. All efforts must be made to stop its incredibly dark effects. My own father succumbed to cancer. It can be distressing even to be associated with someone who has cancer, but compassion rules the day. However, it’s important to note that false teachings in the church are akin to cancer.B) A key message from these ungodly people is that the resurrection has already passed. In other words, it’s too late. You missed it. Sayonara. Talk to you later. You’re out of luck. Better luck next time. This teaching discards the hope of the faithful. And that’s the problem. It’s a false teaching intended only to discourage. There is no positive movement towards God in this message.
