A) In 2 Timothy 2:9, Apostle Paul imparts a profound truth to his young protégé, Timothy. He says, “Even though I’m suffering as an evildoer to the point of chains, jail, and restriction, the word of God is not chained or restricted.” Paul wants Timothy to understand that even in his imprisonment, people are being saved.B) Paul then boldly proclaims something he had mentioned earlier to Timothy and Titus. He urges them to “endure all things for the sake of the elect.” This means we should tolerate whatever comes our way, especially if it provides an opportunity to bless God’s elect, His chosen children. Even if a situation appears difficult, it doesn’t make it any less opportunistic to be an example to bless people.

1) We delve into the moment when Moses and Aaron meet Pharaoh. Undoubtedly, there is tension. Moses declares to Pharaoh that the Lord God has commanded, "Let my people go, so they may hold a festival for me in the wilderness." Remember, Pharaoh was filled with pride, and God hardened his heart. Consequently, his response to Moses was, "Who is the Lord that I should obey him?" He then makes his own damning declaration by saying, "I don’t know the Lord." This will be the testimony for all those who do not spend eternity with God.2) Our next devotional involves the Queen of Sheba. She is highly regarded because she possessed a wealth of spices. That's impressive. However, she made profound and powerful statements about Solomon and God. She asserts that Solomon’s reputation fell short of his actual deeds. This might sound a bit odd, but I believe we face a similar issue. The reputation of God lags behind His actual activity in our lives. The outcomes of these extraordinary activities are the truest joys for mankind.3) Our often-appreciated eternal friend, Pastor Ray, is not "gone" but is in the company of Jesus Christ. We will never forget him here on earth because his kingdom’s efforts continue to resonate with us. Pastor Ray wrote about how our gracious God turns bitterness into blessings. God’s grace is all around us, and we often fail to notice it. The power of living grace is glorious. Without witnessing His grace in action, we miss His love and kindness.4) To conclude this week, here's one of my favorite teachings about praying in the manner that Jesus instructed. Anything that Jesus teaches serves as an excellent strategy for us to follow. When the disciples asked Him how they should pray, Jesus provided a very specific answer, which might differ from what one might expect. While there must be a certain sense of reverence because we are approaching the Almighty God, there is also another characteristic that must be considered. We need to use ALL the tools at our disposal.

A) We are currently studying James Chapter 4. The second part of Verse 4 states, "Therefore, whoever chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." It's important to distinguish between people of the world and worldly systems. Worldly systems represent the collective wisdom of man derived from his flesh, sin, Satan, society, politics, culture, academia, media, and every other known form of science or culture. This collective wisdom is continually in opposition to God. B) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only begotten son." We need to understand the meaning of this. God demonstrated his love for the world by sacrificing his Son, Jesus Christ. He did not sacrifice His Son to exalt or honor worldly systems, which include politics, intellectualism, human philosophy, and other forms of defiant, antichristian thinking or living.C) Verse 5 reminds us that scripture clearly states that the Holy Spirit within us causes us to enter into conflict with our old selves. This is why there is often a war within us to make the right decisions for the right kingdom. What's amazing about this is what Verse 6 teaches us: even though we go through this, God gives us more grace. Why do we need more grace? Because there are times when it doesn’t go well in the war.D) The last part of Verse 6 makes it clear: God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. This is also covered in 1 Peter Chapter 5, Verse 5. When it says that God opposes, it means that he fights against. There's no other way to interpret it. God opposes proud mankind in their pride, which is the very thing that God cannot stand. So, He opposes the proud but gives grace, unmerited favor, to the humble in such a way that He actually fights for the humble but against the proud. Be humble or get beat up by God.

1) Reviewing the Book of Acts: I find immense value in studying the Book of Acts due to its rich content. To gain insights into the functioning of the early church, we begin with Acts 22:30 but swiftly transition to Acts 23. At the outset of our passage, it is stated that the commander released Paul from his chains. However, the commander remains puzzled, unaware of the reasons behind the crowd's agitation. When chaos erupts, there is often no rational process at play—sometimes, it's merely the work of malevolence. 2) Paul's Response to the High Priest: As we delve into chapter 23, Paul acknowledges that he has acted with integrity before the Lord. Yet, Ananias the high priest orders those nearby to strike Paul on the mouth. This incident has led to various incorrect theological interpretations. Paul's swift retort, calling Ananias a "whitewashed wall," implies hypocrisy—accusing Paul while acting unjustly.3) Accepting Responsibility: Rather than accepting responsibility, those around Paul question how he could speak harshly to God's high priest. Paul recognizes that he is losing ground. However, there is nothing extraordinary or revelatory about this moment. He even apologizes, unaware initially that Ananias was the high priest. The context from Exodus 22:28 cautions against speaking ill of those in authority, but it differs significantly from speaking the truth. Paul navigates this delicate balance. Speaking evil is CURSING. 4) Navigating Divisions: Guided by the Holy Spirit, Paul discerns that some present are Sadducees, who deny the resurrection, while others are Pharisees, who affirm it. Paul boldly declares his hope lies in the resurrection, causing great division among his opponents. Whether Christian or not, divisions weaken our collective position. Perhaps Christians should heed this lesson. Remember, unity and understanding are essential for a strong community.

A) As we conclude Second Corinthians, we pick it up at verse 10. Over the past few weeks, you may have noticed that the New Testament writers often explain why they write what they do. Their purpose is to ensure that even when they are absent, the truth remains clear. Paul conveys this message to the church in Corinth.B) The apostle Paul then carefully explains why God has granted him authority in the Word and in the truth. His purpose is straightforward: to build people up rather than tear them down. Throughout my 45 years of Christianity, I’ve witnessed countless instances where the Word of God was preached either to uplift or to harm. The principle is simple: if someone teaches with laughter and mockery, they lack true Christian worth. However, those who weep while teaching are more aligned with the spirit of Jesus.C) The conclusion in Second Corinthians is one of rejoicing. First and foremost, we are called to rejoice. And Paul emphasizes it again: rejoice. While perfection may remain elusive, we should strive for it. Encourage one another, maintain unity, and live in peace. These are God’s desires, and if we pursue them, He promises to be with us.D) Concluding this letter, we encounter a powerful text regarding the Holy Spirit. We begin with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, which represents unmerited favor. Next, we acknowledge the love of God the Father, surpassing our worthiness. Finally, we recognize the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Scripture commands us to fellowship with the Holy Spirit, even though some may fear it. Don’t fear the Counselor.

1) We begin with a return to the very first topic I addressed on the radio during my demo show before embarking on my radio career. This topic pertains to Christianity and poses a simple, straightforward question: "What is Christianity all about?" Many perceive it as a religion or a crutch, among other things. However, the real question that will determine people's eternities is their response to "What is Christianity all about?" and "Who is Jesus?"2) Before we can appreciate any good news, we must first understand the bad news. The bad news is that we are all sinners. Our sins have separated us from God and brought death and disease into our lives and our planet. There is no escaping this bad news. The disobedience of Adam and Eve is ingrained in our nature because we all descend from Adam and Eve. Once they fell and rebelled, that rebellious DNA was passed on to us.3) However, this bad news is accompanied by an incredible dose of good news. This good news is what Jesus Christ proclaimed as the good news of the Kingdom of God. The good news is that there is an answer to the bad news. Ironically, the Gospel is the answer to our self-destructive lives and the solution to reconcile us with God.4) We will take a few minutes to review what Christianity is not. Contrary to what many people think, it's not a secret club with secret handshakes. Being a Christian currently puts a target on your back because there are more worldly people than followers of The Way. However, God's armies are with us, so we are in greater power and in numbers than them.5) People need to understand that Christianity is not about following a series of rules and regulations, nor is it about wearing a special badge. It's about having the seal of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and minds, given to us through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ and granted to us by the love of the Father. This is about a living relationship with a living God. Anything else diminishes the value of Jesus Christ's sacrifice and His resurrection.

A) As we delve into Psalm 50, a third of the way through the Psalms, we encounter a song by Asaph about God as the righteous judge. It’s crucial for us to understand that God’s judgment is righteous, fair, and just. We will never eternally fall on the wrong side of God’s justice. So, whenever you feel something is happening to you, remember that all matters are ultimately settled in the true Supreme Court.B) The verse’s opening ensures we comprehend who controls the earth, its rotation, and its spinning. God is the one who orchestrates and commands the Earth from sunrise to sunset. This implies that every sunset and sunrise is not a product of science but occurs by God’s permission. If the Lord decides one day that the sun shall not rise or set, then it will not rise or set.

1) Romans Chapter 2, Verse 17 presents real challenges to our pride. Paul, under the verbal plenary inspiration of the Holy Spirit, addresses Jews who rely on God's law for their special relationship with Him. They boast about their background and pedigree. However, as Jesus clarified in the Gospels if people do not respond appropriately to God, even the rocks will cry out in praise. Our background does not guarantee our future.2) The Apostle Paul intensifies his argument. He states that you believe you are a guide for the blind and a beacon of light for those lost in darkness. Before anyone labels this as exclusive to the Jewish people, let's understand that many in the Christian realm believe they are guides for all who are blind, including other Christians, and that they are beacons of life for all those in darkness. This is a manifestation of pride, which is folly.3) Paul continues, challenging those who believe they can instruct the ignorant and are certain that they possess complete knowledge and truth within God's law. This is another facet of pride. Paul counters this with wisdom, asking, "If you're teaching others, why not teach yourself? If you know so much, why don't your actions reflect your knowledge?"4) This section concludes with the understanding that those who take pride in knowing the law end up dishonoring God by breaking it in other areas. This refers to Isaiah Chapter 52, Verse 5, which states, "No wonder the world blasphemes the name of God because of how you live your life." This is an indictment for both Jews and Gentiles. Remember, Christians are forgiven, and there's a reason we need forgiveness.

A) In Matthew 16:24, Jesus instructs his disciples on the prerequisites of being his follower. He outlines three critical steps for obedience. First, we must set aside our selfish ambitions, ensuring that we are not the center of everything. Second, we must shoulder our cross, carrying it close to our head and heart, allowing it to influence our thoughts and feelings.B) The third step, often overlooked, is that we are called to follow Jesus. He is our exemplar. While there are many admirable Christians, teachers, and pastors, our ultimate goal should not be to emulate them, as they, too grapple with their own sins. Instead, we should strive to be like Jesus, our perfect model.C) Without hesitation, Jesus summarizes his teachings. If you cling to your life, you will lose it. However, if you surrender your life for Jesus, for the Kingdom of God, for God’s purposes, plans, problems, proclamations, power, and peace, you will truly find life.

1) As we return to Genesis, we resume at Genesis 3:4. I'm striving to avoid dissecting this word by word, but it's becoming increasingly challenging. So, please bear with me and continue to show me kindness. In verse four, Satan profoundly disrupts humanity. He simply states, "You won't die." Before this, he was merely sowing doubt. Now, he utters something contrary to the truth. Technically, this is the first lie. "You won't die if you disobey God." That's a lie. The truth is, "You will die if you disobey God."

A) The subsequent verse has been misused to establish points both for and against life’s politics. However, the verse has nothing to do with these. It states that we should not entangle ourselves in this life’s affairs. This doesn’t imply that you shouldn’t get involved in politics, nor does it mean you have to. It signifies that earthly matters are temporary, and our lives should focus on the eternal. B) Paul then provides three examples of what a Christian life resembles: a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer. It’s crucial to note that all three roles require significant effort and commitment. No soldier, athlete, or farmer has a life that’s merely a walk in the park. The first definition is that we should please our captain, who is Jesus. The second definition is that we should compete according to the rules, which represent the truth. Otherwise, we will receive nothing. The last one is the hardworking farmer who gets to enjoy the fruits of his labor.C) Paul states, “Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all these things.” It’s evident that people would hear things that Paul wrote, and we even hear things preached from the pulpit. Sometimes, we don’t process them very well. We need God’s grace to understand the truths we encounter fully. Without His help, we’ll never grasp them.D) As previously mentioned, Paul provides a formula for the gospel and salvation. It is Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, raised from the dead. Yes, this formula differs from others because there are multiple formulas in the scriptures. But it is also this simple: the gospel is about Jesus Christ being raised from the dead. That is, in fact, the good news.

1) We’ll explore what it means to be a leader according to God and how to lead with the right spirit. We will approach this alongside the New Testament’s concept of servant leadership. We’ll examine four aspects of leadership defined in the Old Testament. Remember, whether you think you are or not, you, too, are a leader to someone.2) Our next teaching involves the wisdom of being careful regarding whom we form alliances with. This doesn't mean that you can't engage with both saved and unsaved people. That is not the teaching. However, when you decide to form alliances, you need to ensure that there is approval from God. This is because an alliance is much deeper than mere connections; it involves dependence on one another. Confidence in an unfaithful person is akin to a broken tooth or a foot out of joint.3) We concluded today's show with a review of what the wisest man on the planet did when he was at the peak of his wisdom. Everyone knows that Solomon started off great, but then faced tremendous difficulties later in his life. He failed the Lord. It's not as though he won't be in heaven, but the earlier part of his journey is what we aim to emulate. In this teaching, we'll review what Solomon did that pleased the Lord and challenge each other to do the same so we can please the Lord in everything we think, say, and do.
