1) Hey, crime stoppers! We're at the beginning of the year, and it's time to raise our level of expectation for what this new year will bring. What God will do with us, for us, and to us, all because He loves us. We need to move our expectations from a six to a nine so we can see the works of God in our lives.2) There is nothing new or old about this message. What that means is that it applies to our past, our present, and our future. The first thing that we are going to talk about is understanding that God has a new land for you and me in 2024. There is something new and special that God has designed for us this year. The question is: can we believe it?3) We don't know exactly what the future will bring, but we can know exactly HIM who brings the future. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He makes us a promise that our future has good in store for us. The new things the Lord might bring us could be new locations and faces, new professions, a closer walk with Him, divine appointments, kingdom work, the realization of hopes, finding purpose, greater financial opportunities, or even greater periods of quiet and rest. But all of these, under the hand of God, are good things. So we can expect good things, And if we believe, then great things are coming.4) We know that there will be obstacles in our walk. There always have been, and there always will be, until the fullness of redemption, the glorification process of our salvation. We need to make a decision as to how we're going to handle the disappointments that come our way until we reach our goals. We will offer up two substantial keys to standing fast in the Lord while we await the fullness of victory. One of these keys will be answering a significant question. The other key will be functioning in a significant principle. By these, we shall prevail in the Lord.

A) Psalm 49:1 initiates with a universal proclamation, emphasizing that God's favor does not discriminate between the rich and the poor—an important slight distinction echoed differently in the New Testament. When God proclaims, it is a message for all, encompassing the high and the low, the rich and the poor—God desires all inhabitants of the world to heed His word.B) The psalmist then asserts his commitment to impart wisdom and understanding through proverbs and riddles. He questions the rationale behind fearing the days of evil, asserting that those who trust in the Lord have no reason to be afraid.C) A warning follows for those fixated on wealth—specifically those who place unwavering trust in their riches. It's not a condemnation of those using wealth as a tool but a caution that reliance on riches cannot redeem others, let alone oneself. Finances, money, and wealth are incapable of redeeming a soul.D) This Psalm remarkably references Jesus Christ, underscoring the concept that redemption comes at the cost of blood, and that blood must be pure and perfect to save a person from the impending pit. The verses vividly depict a world heading towards destruction, emphasizing the need for people to board the lifeboat named Jesus to escape the impending drowning and doom of hell's heat and fire.

1) As we conclude the first chapter of Romans, Paul delivers a powerful message. He states that when people refuse to acknowledge God, He abandons them to their evil minds, allowing them to commit acts that should never be done. Does this mean these individuals are irredeemable? Absolutely not. The power of prayer can change the universe, and our prayers for our loved ones certainly have an impact. However, if they persist in their rebellion against God without intervention, they will receive no assistance from Him.2) I'd like to take a moment to highlight verse 30. Paul states that people are continually inventing new ways to sin. Drawing from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, people often forget that this tree also represents evil, and the knowledge of evil continues to grow. This is how people continually invent new ways to sin.3) Paul also points out that people often refuse to understand. They're aware of the penalties and troubles that come with their actions, but they simply don't care. The reason for their indifference is that they don't believe the penalties will affect them now, and they're unconcerned about future consequences.4) Romans chapter one concludes with Paul noting that it's not only those who commit evil deeds themselves who are at fault but also those who encourage others to do the same. This is particularly true for politicians, preachers, and leaders who urge others to commit iniquity and sin. It's even worse than committing the sin themselves because they're encouraging defiance against God. This applies to every person who supports pro-choice, pro-transgender, pro-woke, and any other humanistic philosophy that opposes the truth of God. Yikes.

A) In verse 18, Jesus declares, "Now I say to you that you are Peter, 'Petros' in Greek, meaning a small rock. In fact, upon this rock, 'Petra' in Greek, referring to several rocks collected together in a rock bed, I will build my church." The foundation of the church is not solely Peter, but all believers united in the confession of Jesus Christ. While Peter played a role, each believer, like a little rock, contributes to the building process.

1) Dave tackles Genesis. Chapter 2 verses 11 through 20. Ironically, the spoon man forgets his notes, but he does his best to break it down into 4 compartments. The first is understanding that God placed Adam in the garden. In order to take care of and tend to the garden, one of the things that people miss is there's things that God brings into our lives. That he wants us to take care of and tend to. No, this is not a scriptural reference to God being environmentalist the way that the world thinks, because the only pollution God sees is sin. Which is what defiles the land.2) God gives a very specific warning to Adam regarding the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He was entitled to eat any fruit from any tree he wanted in the entire garden except the one tree. He could have anything he wanted, including the tree of life. Which is what he should have grabbed. But he just couldn't have the one. Tree. Because the result of that warning is Mankind. Would be introducing death into the race. It's iconic to understand. That. Death is progressive in multiple areas. The immediate death was spiritual, the last death is physical and all the deaths that are in between.3) Next up. The Lord tries to help Adam understand that it is not good for him to be alone. Which is a great testimony and example for you and I to understand that God doesn't want us to be Lone Wolf Mcquade Christians. We cannot afford to be Mr. or Miss in Mr. or missus independence. We need to depend on one another and that was how God created mankind. That is the design before sin entered and that is the continued design as Jesus gave his life a ransom for many. For the brethren, your brothers and sisters are supposed to be a part of your life. Running away from fellowship is not OK.

A) We conclude this section with Paul’s words, “Hold fast to the pattern of sound words.” This is a polite way of saying, speak your faith and ensure what you’re speaking is solid. If we don’t speak our faith and instead speak our doubts, it affects not just those around us but us personally. Speak truth. Speak faith. Speak love. Speak grace.B) 2 Timothy 1:14 states that we are supposed to guard the good deposit that was entrusted to us by the Holy Spirit who lives in us. This verse helps to clarify some of the distinctions between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God the Father is on the throne. God the Son is at the right hand of the Father, interceding for the saints. And God the Holy Spirit dwells in us as believers. Jesus lives in our hearts by faith. The Holy Spirit lives in our lives in reality. Without faith, we cannot please him.

1) We begin with a warning this afternoon: we must be vigilant and mindful of ourselves. We must ensure that we do not forget the things our eyes have witnessed. This is an excellent way for us to understand that God has performed many wonderful deeds in our lives. However, we often become so preoccupied with what is yet to come that we lose sight of what has been and what He has demonstrated. This oversight is our failing and our failure.2) Finally, we often discuss what God will do, which is important. However, there are also things that the Lord will not do, and it’s crucial to review these as well. These three elements will bring joy to our hearts and a smile to our faces. Isn’t that wonderful?

A) Another breakout Friday as Sergio, our great brother, asks a phenomenal question about God revealing Himself in His Word. David takes the time to explain how as we embrace and engage in the Word of God; we get to know God better personally.B) James 4:1 starts by asking what causes conflicts and quarrels among you. It does not say that we will never have them. As Christians, we are saved, but we are still growing in our sanctification process, reflecting Jesus Christ more and more.C) James says that conflicts come from the passions that are inside of us. He helps us understand that these are from our old nature, the carnal nature, which was positionally crucified, but practically still being eradicated step by step.

1) Following the bright light, the Lord spoke. It’s noteworthy that after God shines a light into our dark world, He calls us by name. In this case, He called out, “Saul.” Saul asked, “Who are you?” This is the fundamental question that every person must answer when they stand before God.2) The Lord replied, “I am Jesus of Nazareth, the one you are persecuting.” It’s crucial to understand that Paul was persecuting the church, but Jesus saw it differently. Jesus identified with His believers to such an extent that when they were persecuted, He felt persecuted. This is because He connects with our experiences.3) Surprisingly, Paul’s next question is the most insightful of all, and one that we should ask not just upon salvation but every day: “What shall I do, Lord? What do you want me to do?” This question applies both broadly and specifically: “What is my assignment, and how can I honor You this day?” Every day should be a presentation of ourselves to the Lord.4) Sometimes, the Lord instructs us to go somewhere without revealing what we’re going to do there. This is exactly what happened to Paul on his way to Damascus, and it’s a situation many can relate to. Sometimes, God’s revelation comes after we’ve responded to and set our geography.

A) Paul urgently corrects the Corinthians' perception, emphasizing that he is not defending himself but speaking in the presence of God in Christ. The essence lies in relying on God as the ultimate defense. The crucial principle is that when we align with righteousness and truth before the Lord, it becomes God's responsibility to defend.B) In a heartfelt moment, Paul reveals his motive, stating that everything he communicates is to edify the Corinthians. In the context of The David Spoon Experience, this aligns with our ministry goals, where Paul's words aim to uplift rather than tear down.C) Yet, Paul expresses a genuine concern about his upcoming meeting with the Corinthians. His hope is for unity, spiritual closeness, and a right spirit among them. However, he fears potential discord, highlighting his humanity and relatability.D) Subsequently, Paul outlines 11 undesirable traits, alluding to Galatians 5:16-18 and the works of the flesh. His worry centers on the need to address those engaged in such behavior during his visit. It's noteworthy that Paul addresses believers, acknowledging that even they grapple with sin, dismissing the immature notion that believers are immune. However, he also stresses the importance of believers confronting and overcoming these challenges.

1) On this unpredictable Wednesday, the show takes an unexpected turn. David starts by discussing the promising prospects of 2024, but the topic quickly changes. He shifts to a prayer session, teaching about fear and faith and highlighting how many people are paralyzed by fear. 2) Rosalyn then calls in, sharing two compelling testimonies and her revelation about Jesus’s profound love for everyone. The show concludes with prayers for a man named Gary. David discusses Jesus’s plea during his crucifixion, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’ He interprets this as Jesus asking for forgiveness for the sin committed at that moment, preventing God from destroying the world in retaliation for Jesus’s death.

A) Psalm 48:11 says that Mount Zion rejoices and that the daughters of Judah are glad. I am not a person who promotes positive thinking and positive speaking. I am a Bible-believing, born-again Christian who promotes biblical thinking and biblical speaking. There are times to laugh and there are times to cry. There are times to be glad, and there are times to be sad. Just look at the life of Jesus. In this text, we are directed to be glad, because God is faithful and he will determine the crosses and the crowns that we encounter.B) We should recognize the things that God has built as being steadfast and secure. We are told to consider the bulwarks. Bulwarks are strong walls that sustain. We are told to consider the palaces. And then we are told to tell that to the next generation, so that they may know what we have witnessed. The foundations, the buildings, and the works created by God in and around our lives are the things to tell the next generation.C) Verse 14 often gets missed, but not today. This is our God. There was a popular show called "This is Our Life." That's cute. It's a TV drama. But the scriptures make it clear: this is our God. Do you want to know what God is like? His word will manifest himself in such a way that your relationship becomes dynamic. This is our God, and he is our God forever and ever. Not a temporary guide but a permanent king.D) How long will this last? He will be our guide even unto death. The Greek Septuagint version reads "even unto eternity." I think people who are arguing over which of these two-word choices is best are missing it. Our death is just the entry point to our eternity. We are eternal now, but at death, it takes on a new set of clothing. That is how long he will be our guide: from now until there is no more time. Celebrate our forever starting NOW!
